The Grand by SkyCity
"We absolutely loved our stay! The best part of the hotel was definitely the location. It made everything so easy, especially with our day trips, as the tour shuttles could pick us up right from the hotel. There was also so much shopping, great food, and everything we needed within easy walking distance. The staff were incredible from the moment we arrived. After a long flight, they were kind enough to let us check in early, and we were even pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade. We also loved the little touches, like the chocolates waiting in our room. Such a nice surprise! And the endless supply of Nespresso pods was definitely appreciated. 😊The pool and gym were also great. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend this hotel. Great location, wonderful staff, and lots of thoughtful touches that made our stay even more enjoyable!"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Auckland
- Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly time to visit Auckland is between May and July, when hotel prices are generally lower. For those looking to explore the city's key landmarks, cultural sites, and historical attractions, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. During this time, you can enjoy visits to the bustling port, unique shopping experiences, fascinating museums, delightful dining options, guided tours, charming cafes, and impressive monuments, as well as the stunning volcanic landscapes. This period offers great value for money for travellers seeking to immerse themselves in Auckland's rich history and vibrant culture.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Auckland, visit the Deals or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Additionally, consider enabling email alerts or push notifications from Hotels.com to stay updated on flash sales and special promotions, so you’re less likely to miss any savings opportunities. The Smart Shopping tool within the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you can make informed decisions. If prices drop or new rooms become available, you'll be the first to know, facilitating your last-minute booking.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay in an Auckland hotel. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised touch and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher end, we may suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, helping you to potentially secure a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Auckland’s superb public transport connections, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well linked. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
