8/10 Very good

Annoying front office manager
This is a very nice hotel. Great design and location. Rooms are small, but they are very comfortable and well designed. Unfortunately, my check out experience tainted my whole experience. offered me a guaranteed late check out (extra two hours) with the stated standard check out time at 11am. I confirmed with the reception staff the day before that 1pm would be the check out time. Nonetheless, there was a follow up on the day saying the late check out was 12noon and that was wrong. This was not my issue, but the front office manager proceeded to labor the matter when I checked out and called me rude in front of other guests when I said it was not my issue and that she should discuss it with I paid a nightly rate of NZD 566 (higher than their typical rates) and as I said my booking had a guaranteed 2 hour late check out with standard check out stated as 11am. It seems the front office manager is overly emotional and should have realized this was not a big deal and not my fault. This could have easily been handled in a better way; after all we’re talking about 1 hour and what was stated in my booking confirmation. I have another stay coming up at this hotel on 25 Nov and I hope they will be less pedantic, more organized and more welcoming this time round!!

Kingi Breakfast is extremely overpriced. $50 for 2 eggs on toast, 2 slices of bacon and a hot chocolate. Wouldn’t do that again.

8/10 Very good

Great hotel with lovely furnishings and well designed rooms. We loved the comment that guests could steal anything they liked and the hotel would just charge this back to the customer. The guys on the front desk - superb. The pillows are the worst I’ve ever had. I mentioned this to the front desk on checkout and was told about a pillow menu - mmm couldn’t find this on your website, there was nothing mentioned on check in and nothing in the room about this. For a hotel of this caliber I find that poor.

10/10 Exceptional

Gorgeous boutique hotel with beautiful spaces, immediate access to cool restaurants and especially the Daily Bread cafe in the am for great pastries and coffee. Many great restaurants around, but don't hesitate to leave the neighborhood for a funkier, less bourgeois vibe. Very desirable location, given it's proximity to high end purveyors, and fortunately not in the middle of the (sad/touristy) viaduct area. Will go back to this place. ps i do agree with those who complain it can be hard to find adequate space next to the bed.
