They fooled us Hôtel Montmartre 16 Rue Ramey Paris
On the day of arrival we weren’t able to check in to our room before 3 hours later than what we were actually supposed to The hotel room smelled of cigarettes Do not use the private taxi provided by the hotel! The hotel fooled us to use their private taxi to the airport because they said that all public transportation was on strike, which in fact wasn’t until 2 days later. That meant that we had to pay 8 times as much as we would have used public transportation In the airport the private taxi of the hotel demanded that we paid 5 euros extra even though we had come to an agreement about a price with the hotel. So basically, the taxi driver fooled us for 5 euros. We contacted the hotel about this incident after which they called the taxi driver who claimed that he had notified us about the extra 5-euro charge. That is a lie and unfortunately it leaves us with a very bad experience with the hotel and the private taxi service. We contacted the hotel afterwards to hear if it was possible to get some compensation for this but they refused We’re sad to make such a bad review but our stay at this hotel and their treatment of us were simply not okay. That’s why we wanted to share our experience and we certainly do not want to recommend the Hôtel Montmartre to any other tourists

Very good 8.0
Great price for Paris, but unusable wi-fi
Good no-frills budget hotel in a great location, handy for Montmartre and Gare du Nord. I had room 505 which even had a partial view of Sacre Coeur. I paid a very reasonable price for my two-night stay, too. Pros: Bright room, comfortable bed, friendly reception service, good water pressure in the shower (with the all-important hand-held shower head), enough (good-sized) towels. Cons: There was no "do not disturb" sign provided, which did not make for a stress-free morning when I could hear the cleaners talking outside my bedroom door. The advertised free wi-fi didn't work in my room, or rather, my devices were only able to pick it up very intermittently (maybe 10% of the time) - I assume because of the distance from the router of this 5th floor room. This was not a major problem for me as I have a data plan on my phone, but would be a huge inconvenience to others. Reception desk is not manned at night. Shower cubicle was very small, and there was a certain amount of street noise being in a lively area for night-life. I would stay there again for sure, but some of the cons I have listed would cause a problem for some people.

Exceptional 10.0
For the price, this hotel is excellent. The beds are reasonably comfy, it's an excellent location (a 4 minute walk to the nearest metro stop and about a ten minute walk to the Sacre Coure church) and the staff are very friendly. But it is just a bed and a shower, there's nothing fancy about it, which is just what we want for a 3 night city break. The shower was perfectly reasonable, although because the bathroom is so small it might be a little hard to access if you're disabled some way or on the larger side. I have minor mobility problems and struggled a little, but it was perfectly fine still. The place is clean and comfortable, but the winning attribute is definitely the location. Supermarket and bakery two minutes away, more restaurants than you can ever need within a 10 minute walk and from our balcony you even get a bit of a view from the church. If you can get a room on floor 5, the only one with balconies as it was lovely to stand out and listen to the church bells on a Sunday morning. The area is busy and perhaps a little loud, but I didn't find this to be a problem.

Good 6.0
Small and a bit grubby.
We were a bit disappointed with this place. The photos and some comments seemed ok but the rooms (2) were small and need a refurb. We were asked to pay up front, in cash, on arrival as they didn't take cards. Sent us to the cash machine. The shower room was a stud wall construction in the corner of the original room and was just ' tiny'. I couldn't turn in the shower let alone use the shampoo. The glass sliding door leaves nothing to the imagination when someone is sat on the toilet. The basin is a cloakroom one and it's impossible to have a wash in it. On the second day the hot water was off until the staff came in to switch the boiler on but we were on the way out by then. The bed was comfortable. The lift is unreliable as it stops and starts alarmingly. There is no coffee/tea making and nowhere local to get a breakfast. The reception guy was pleasant enough.

Poor 2.0
"Broken" credit card machine, hair in the shower
We decided to try this hotel since the one we usually stay at was booked and this was comparable in price. That was our first mistake. When we got there we were informed that the credit card machine was "broken" and that we needed to pay the $250+ for our stay in cash, up front, which we had to get from a nearby ATM before we could get into our room. We found the room to be shabby and not well cleaned, with quite a bit of men's hair stuck in the shower grout. The dim lighting in the bathroom was probably meant to keep us from noticing that the bathroom had not gotten a good cleaning in a while. Every time we came back in the evening, the lower door was always ajar, allowing just anyone to walk into the building. It was frustrating that there was no one making sure that the building was secure. I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
