Most Disappointing portion of a beautiful vacation
*Upon arrival was a bit nervous as we approached hotel with many businesses in the area with locked gates, bars on windows and so on - concerned about safety. *First night arrival following a long miserable drive into town, there was no WiFi available. Asked the front desk staff for help and they said there was nothing they could do - there appeared to be two different WiFi signals and neither worked - staff member said I was at fault for picking the wrong one, but neither was mentioned at check in - they simply gave me a password that did not help with either signal. *Bathroom sink did not drain and with any water pressure shot water all over the user - ridiculous *Second night needed to use the house computer to print a document - the computer was down and note posted said to use the front desk computer - in trying to do that the front desk staff only said it could be used if I forwarded them a personal/private email to print for me, or to give them my password to log in - - I laughed and said that was unacceptable. I asked for the staff member to simply turn the screen and share the keyboard to accomodate - there response was that was not possible *Upon check-out the front desk staff member would not provide me a receipt - said it needed to come from Expedia - on a 9 day, 8 night trip all booked on Expedia this was the only hotel to not provide me a receipt *When pushing for a receipt the front desk staff member told me I had been problem my entire stay

Great Value!
Hotels in Seattle have become so expensive that, for a few years, I just stopped going there but there are so many great things to do in Seattle that I decided to visit again. It seems that even if you find a good deal, the parking fees are ridiculous. For Canadians the room rate is in Canadian dollars but the parking fee is paid in US dollars so a $40 parking fee becomes $52 Canadian. This is why I was pleased to find this hotel. The room rate was reasonable and included free parking and free breakfast. And the breakfast is very good and includes eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, baked items and juice. The room was very large with a king bed and sitting area. The little kitchen area included a good size fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The Wifi worked very well. There's also an indoor pool and spa but I didn't use it. The hotel is just off Hwy 5 on Aurora so it doesn't take long to get downtown but I didn't want to pay a fortune for parking there either so I took the bus. The stop is a block from the hotel and the bus is a semi-express so for $5 return, it was very convenient. For a family it would probably be cheaper to drive but traffic is terrible in Seattle. The next day I drove to the zoo which took about 12 minutes. This hotel is a great find and I would definitely stay here again.

Worst service ever
Requested an early checkin at noon as we had been traveling and hadn’t slept in 30 hours. When we arrived we were told veey rudely that hotels.com didn’t pass on the request AND 2:30 was earlier they could clean a room. Even when they knew the reason, and knowing we were sleeping in our car in parking lot, they didn’t hurry. I left phone number and they said they would call when room ready. Back in at 2:45pm, they had not called yet and they were checking others in. Overheard their requests were not listened to either. Izabelle was not only unaccommodating, but abrupt and rude in her responses. She then told me a room wasn’t ready still...even tho others were checking in. Finally got a room, but not even a smile or a kind word or apology from Izabella. Hard bed. Poor neighbourhood. Nice room tho.

Very good 8.0
The server in the Asian restaurant was a bit strange telling me I couldn’t sit at certain tables when the restaurant was literally empty and then she disappeared after she brought me my soup and I never saw her again.. the manager took over and brought me my check. I also requested a room amenity to be delivered at a specific time to surprise my boyfriend when we got back to the hotel from dinner but it was delivered about an hour and a half early when he was sleeping in the room and the surprise was ruined but the Prosecco and strawberries were delicious!! Overall, the hotel is cute and very old school. Well maintained and cleaned, friendly front desk staff and bellmen as well. Convenient location located near the shops and Michigan Ave.

Aurora neighbourhood north of downtown Seattle
I stayed in a lot of hotels and paid the price for some (way overpriced for what you get) and Holiday Inn Express just north of downtown Seattle was a dream! Number one they have a 24 hr pool and fitness room. The staff was awesome as well. Room and grounds were very clean. Breakfast was over the top with variety, freshness, and constantly cared for by at least 3 staff the entire time. Plenty of free parking and moderately priced. The place was sold out every day we were there. I only have one negative comment and it's not the hotel. It's about another guest that took it upon herself to touch my food. I don't like waste so I took the bread with a ripped crust. This lady still thinks she's at home and decided the 3 open slots weren't good enough for her so she threw my toast out so she could toast her perfect bread. I did confront her and she admitted with a shrug no big deal your bread was damaged and I'm the bread police so I tossed it. Stay home because you are a nusance!
