Expensive small room, but great location
For the price ($1100+ for 4 nights), I got a very small room that is almost entirely taken up by the queen sized bed. Bathroom is tiny, and the shower pressure was not great. There was also a bit of an unidentified smell lingering in the bathroom - from reading other reviews, it seems like there's a sewerage problem? Or blocked pipes? The walls were very thin, and so I was frequently woken up in the middle of the night by my neighbours' amorous activities. Despite that, the bed was very, very comfortable. They have a pillow menu so you can choose your favourite type of pillow. My room was small but I found it quite cosy (it probably helps that I'm quite small myself; definitely won't be comfortable if two people were in there). The location was great - I could easily walk to a large number of restaurants and shops. Pike Place Market was only a 10 minute walk. The hotel also throws a happy hour everyday where they serve local beers for free.

Exceptional 10.0
Hotel was lovely and clean. Had a king room and even though smallish was big and comfortable enough for one. My flight was delayed and the hotel were great as I didn't get in until next morning. They were helpful in organising transport for me. Check in was good I thought at the time. Had to ask about the wifi details as that wasn't mentioned on checkin. Then on my last day as I was checking out a couple next to me who were checking in were told of free beer tasting in the evenings and complimentary coffee in the mornings. I asked if that was for all guests and was told yes. When I mentioned I had stayed 5 nights and would have taken advantage if I had known. Reception was very apologetic and offered a bottle of wine to compensate. I guess I just got a slack clerk at the time as everyone else was in the ball. I was walking and could get to everywhere I wanted to go, hotel is in a good location. I would stay again.

Not great
The lobby was cute but the rooms seemed like a coat of paint was slapped on and not much else. Closet had an old musty smell, bathroom was smaller than tiny and it didnt have a clean feeling.

Cool venue, tiny room
The look and feel of the hotel is really hip. They had a daily happy hour which was a great opportunity to meet people and grab a free drink. However, the bedroom and bathroom were really tiny. When sitting on the toilet, your head was basically on top of the sink. The shower was also a snug fit.

Stay was okay but not worth the price
The room felt damp and smelled very musty when we got in. The smell did not improve and neither did the dampness, even after turning on the air conditioner. The room was very small and the bed dipped in the middle which is evidence of an old mattress or the box spring is broken. The staff was very nice and the location was great for our stay but we think the price was a bit much considering the above conditions. We believe the price is based on location and the campy design of the hotel. Our stay was fine but I spent almost $300 for one night for a damp, musty small room. Would suggest the Westin instead of Hotel Max as you will be paying the same amount but for a much nicer room. The Westin is across the street from Hotel Max so the location is the same. Hotel Max is dog friendly which is also a perk but so is The Westin and most of the hotels around the area.
