Good transit options

It’s absolutely no frills but for a solo traveler who’s often in London, that’s completely fine. The proximity to the tube is pretty good, and I loved the easy access to the DLR.

Would stay again

Room 8. Two single beds. Clean sheets. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Felt safe. Good location for ABBA. Old building. But ok. Parking at a cost. Was able to park for the next day while sightseeing. Would stay again

City Stay Hotel

My stay was for one night and the hotel suited my needs perfectly. It offered good value for money and the room and bed was comfortable. The room and building could do with redecorating but that didn’t affect my stay. Check in and out was easy and staff / owner friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking for basic accommodation at value for money cost.
Howard, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Hotel facilities were basic but everything you would need was provided. Friendly helpful staff & hotel situationed next door to the DLR overground & 200 yards from the underground. Room provided had toilet & shower, separate kitchen area, dining table & free wi-fi. There is a convenience store over the road from the hotel also. Would definitely stay there again.

Terrible experience

I had a very bad experience with our stay in CityStay hotel. The room is not worth the rent at all. Heater in our room was not working and we asked them to check it but they never did. We asked them again but no response. We had to survive the cold nights without heater. Also cleanliness is very poor.

Good budget bed for the night

This is a budget hotel, the bedding was clean, there was a lock on the door, it was near the to tube - ideal. There was mold on the ceiling, stuff in the room was broken, there was no kettle, and so on, but this is why it was so cheap for London. If everything was perfect the price would be easily double.

Ok bed was nice and comfortable not much in way of toiletries my biggest concern was the broken electric socket

"Parking" is minimal and you get charged to use a space around the corner. Room was small but clean. Very little room in bathroom. You are getting what you pay for. Convenient to bow road tube station, short walk to ABBA and London Stadium.

Fabulous located hotel for ABBA voyage

I wanted somewhere central, with a clean bed and en-suite but didn’t want to pay a lot. Fab location with a wonderful cafe next door (used to be Barclays) For the amount I paid, I can’t grumble, got clean, white bedding, towels and clean en-suite, was only there to sleep. Don’t expect much tho, everything is outdated and a bit grubby, it’s a 2 star, but you get what you pay for.

Don’t stay here

By far Dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed in as I was going in it smelt of onions the carpet in halls was thick with dust got to my room the bathroom stunk of feet and sweat between tiles was black don’t know if it was dirt or mold felt unclean getting shower and when I arrived my room was like a oven because the heating had been left on full in there and my radiator controller was broken in the room I went to reception and he had to turn off heating on my whole floor as my heater was broke. Nd stuck on full it took hours of leaving window open to finally cool it down I didn’t sleep till about 3-4 am had to leave window open all weekend because they kept turning heating on the beds are very uncomfortable the bedding was inside out dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed in by far i would advise to stay somewhere else I understand it’s a bit cheaper than other hotels but no need for it to. Be that dirty

Great location near the Underground. The room smelled foisty and the bathroom mouldy.
Christopher, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Not a luxury hotel by any means, but better than expected for the price. Some parts could do with a little update and repair but overall not bad
Wilson, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Hotel was fine; bed was clean. Only bad points; some noise from outside but nothing too bad. Room a bit tatty. At the price it’s what you would expect. No cold water in the bathroom; only hot. Beware that after booking online via an agent, it is advisable to call them to confirm; there seemed to be some confusion with the receptionist as a result of this. And also they require ID (driving license/passport) for check in. Would stay again.

The best part is: reasonably positioned for Subway

The curtains in the room did not open or close. The blinds in the room were broken and did not work properly. There was what looked like a old combi boiler in the kitchen area, which we thought would help keep us warm as it was chilly outside, but the radiator in the room did not work. If you are looking for somewhere to get a few hours sleep (and you are a heavy sleeper) then this place is average, there is some water pumps (or similar) that run loud (think I got approx. 4 hours sleep the first night. Staff are polite and friendly, it is about 3-5 minutes walk to the closest subway station, Abbey Road is approx 7 minutes away from the hotel. Room was reasonably clean, doesn't look like it has been decorated (or painted) for a long time. No disabled access. As I said for somewhere to sleep and store clothes for short break, it is OK, but if you want any sort of luxury (like working curtains / blinds to block out the morning sun) then wait until they have sorted these problems out.

It was messy, old and loud. The included continental breakfast was basically a free of charge usage possibility of the basement kitchen. Not to recommend.

Would not return

The mattress was saggy, the toilet was literally black at the bottom. There was black mold in the shower. The skirting board was full of grime. The room stunk. The bedding was crisp and clean.

The room was satisfactory but the dining area for breakfast boone was thede and askex and was told we we're to make our own we was under the impression that we get a cooked breakfast and served by them we had no tea or coffee at all so not happy and wouldn't stay there again
Tracy, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights, booked through Hotel.com. The photos on the website looked great, but upon check-in, I was shocked by the actual state of the room. It was filthy dust covering the floor, dirty walls, an unclean bed, and a grimy bathroom. The room looked nothing like the photos, which, upon closer inspection, seem to have been taken in 2008. These rooms are genuinely unfit for anyone to stay in, and it’s clear they haven’t been maintained or cleaned in a long time. This experience left me deeply disappointed, as I trusted Hotels.com to provide accurate listings. I believe this hotel should be removed from the site, as it damages the platform’s reputation.
