Pit stop before flight
The hotel was tricky to find, life I inititally used had no sign. Heathrow staff told me to go to top, which was wrong. Check in was okay, 6 people behind desk but only 1 helping guests. Not much about hotel explain, only the express checkout. Room was comfy, but not cleaned to standards of this hotel should be. Hairs all over shower wall and dude wipes packets on bedroom floor. It wad a quiet and comfortable room though and got a good night sleep before my flight. A short walk to terminal and lifts to take you up to departure.

Overrated and not recommended
Considering its location right on T5 and the relatively high price, I was expecting great things from Sofitel, but I was sorely disappointed. Firstly it has a really confusing layout - my room felt like it was about a mile walk from the main hotel, beyond the conference centre. Secondly it is really dated - presumably built for T5 opening back in 2007 and it hasn’t been touched since - lots of worn out features and furniture and just not stylish at all. Also cleanliness wasn’t great - my room reeked of cigarette smoke even though it’s a no smoking hotel! I was also ripped off in the bar, having ordered a regular glass of wine, they apparently brought me a large one and then tried to charge me for it, denying that a regular size even existed!!

Place needs a refresh
I've stayed here a few times over the last 12 years. It really needs an update. The rooms are looking tired and worn. Some of the things in the room didn't work properly. Chekc in process was also slow. Many people behind the counter but I have no idea what they were doing, they weren't checking in the long queue of guests in a timely manner. So yes, it's still a good option if you want to stay at Terminal 5 overnight, but hope they step up their game.

Very average. Not worth the money
Very average. The problem with this hotel is that they want you to check in late (or pay a ridiculous surcharge for early check-in), but by the time you arrive most things are closed anyway. So if just staying for one night it’s an absolute waste of money. The hotel is great in terms of location but the room decor was rubbish and aged. For the price paid I would absolutely avoid it next time.
