Fair 4.0
Would choose somewhere else next time
As soon as we stepped outside the lift the corridor smelt dirty and like sewage. Made us feel sick. The rooms were ok, spacious but overall in need of a bit of a spruce.

Great Hotel.
Everything was great apart from the moody/aggresive receptionist. Poached egg didn't arrive! Need to sort out better breakfast ordering process. Overall though a decent and convenient hotel.

Lovely room, but definitely not perfect
The room itself was huge and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, there are a few gripes. There were no plug sockets right next to the bed (not handy for when you want to charge your phone in bed). I also noticed that there were no mirrors that I could use to do my makeup- one was too far away, and the lighting above the full length mirror was poorly placed. Another logistical issue is that the hangers in the wardrobe were all too high to use- I'm only an inch or two shorter than average, but it was a real struggle for me to try to hang anything up on the hangers. I didn't sleep well at night- although the outside of the room was quiet, the room itself was very noisy (I'm guessing due to air conditioning or a heater) & to fill up the kettle, I had to fill a glass of water and then pour that into the kettle (rather than just stick the kettle under the tap in the bathroom). The tea and biscuit selection was good though. A final gripe would have to be the very limited hot vegetarian options at breakfast- all I could have was grilled tomato & mushroom, hash browns & fried egg. I think offering a greater choice of egg & vegetarian sausages would be a huge improvement.

Good 6.0
First and Last Time at MacDonald Manchester Hotel
The first impression of this hotel was good. The parking was easy, and the lobby was bright, tidy, and welcoming. However, it went down hill from there. The member of the reception staff that I encountered wasn't very friendly, and couldn't find my reservation (although I even spelled my surname for them). Eventually it was found, once she had spelt my name correctly, and we were off to our room. The room looked lovely, with a nice addition of a Christmas tree. There were some minor issues of a blown bulb, and a leaking shower hose, but the main issue was the poor mattress. We had booked a junior suite with a King size bed, but even though this is a quality establishment, the King size mattress was actually 2 poor quality single mattresses. Not what I'd expect from a McDonald hotel. This equated to a very poor sleep. The next morning, and time for breakfast. I will say the food quality was very good. The service, and attention to detail was poor. Firstly, we were shown to a dirty table. On this dirty table, there was no milk, napkins, pepper, or teaspoons. There were no clean glasses for the juice selection. Toaster didn't toast the bread, just made it warm. Also the waiters/waitresses didn't seem to be that helpful or attentive. Again, this is not what you'd expect from a McDonald hotel. Lastly, and time to check out. It was bad enough that I had to pay £25 to park for less than 24 hours, but the receptionist didn't give out the code to get my car out.
