Worst hotel ever
We checked in , unpacked then went for dinner. Got a phone call to say they’d over booked so removed our bags from our room and left them outside near the road👿 this was at 10 pm😱 worst hotel ever, aggressive and rude so do not stay here,

Staff wasbamazing, all fixtures very old, deteriorated from salt air, NO SARGAZO ALGAE REMOVAL = EXCESSIVE OFFENSIVE SIGHT AND ODOR ON THE BEACH. BEAWRE. Your imagination cannot begin to guess the terrible smell and sight of accumulated sargazo algae. Uf.

Pros: right at the beach that is beautiful, offer lots of services such as kayaks, bikes and tours; friendly staff; amazing view from the balcony. Cons: don’t have nets that stop mosquitoes from entering through the balcony. Once you spray insecticide, all of them fall on the bed and the floor. There were also roaches.

If they did some maintenance it would be my favor-
Lovely location, it was a really nice place at one time but there has been virtually no maintenance. Way beyond shabby chic. Too bad too, staff is very friendly and helpful, lovely beach. If they did some upkeep it could be my favorite place to stay.

We were very excited to stay at this hotel in Mahahual. While the staff is super friendly and accommodating, the hotel itself is quite run down and not like the pictures. It really could use updating. Our air conditioning was not cooling and then it started to drip water everywhere. They sent up two young guys to fix it. The hotel was in such bad shape that the guys could barely slide the window open to fix the AC unit. The hotel staff was kind enough and offered for us to move to a new room. We did have a view of the ocean which would have been nice but unfortunately we were there during the high sargazo (seaweed) season. The hotel is at the very end of the beach which is nice because it is very calm. The hotel has hammocks (a definite plus) and kayaks to use. They recently installed a very small pool to try to alleviate the sargazo situation. The shower had very little water pressure, but it did have hot water. Overall, the bathroom was small. I feel that this hotel needs to offer more/update the facility if it wants to keep charging the same prices.

Show up to be told can’t checkin yet - site says restaurant which is not true, loud dogs barked all night long with no one doing anything about them.

great location a little bit outside the tourist area so it’s pretty quiet, which is good. ideal area for snorklling lovers (snorklling area right in front of the hotel). but poor service at the reception. the front desk staff is well trained to sell you their food, services and activities, but they don’t advise you well and they are not really helpful neither.

More basic than it looks in the pictures, we got the Superior Room and it wasn't more than a basic double room except that the view is really nice. The facilities lack maintenance, the door was dirty and oily, we had a hard time opening the sliding door to the balcony, one of the chairs there was falling apart with nails sticking out, there were no towels when we arrived and after requesting them they only sent 2 for 3 people. We didn't use the beach facilities but they looked really nice, we ordered room service and the food was above our expectations and the staff was really friendly and helpful.

On the beach. Was about 1 Kilometer from town, which I preferred as it was much quieter than the hotels in town. The rooms are ok. They have a bar and only serve breakfast and you don’t have a Choice. It is one standard breakfast of scrambled eggs with Pancakes, Coffee and Juice. It wasn’t bad.

Ask for the condition of the beach before you go
I only stood 1 night, is only 10 minutes away on foot from restaurants and the offices for tours, unfortunately the beach is full of seaweed and the smell is awful, the restrooms are kind of old, we definitely had to go to another hotel for a day pass to enjoy the sea. Other than that, maybe in another time of the year this hotel is worth it

Beautiful beach but hotel itself is average
Last year we stayed in this hotel and it was infested with ants. It is a lot cleaner now and no more ants. The hotel is in a good area by the beach but its amenities leave much to be desired. Last time we stayed in a regular room. This time we paid for a junior suite and did not notice any difference (unless they gave us a wrong room). We asked but nobody in the hotel speaks English. And they said it was the only room they had left.

The AC went out and the windows were secured with silicone, so no cross breeze was possible. The internet never worked. They were unable to swipe a credit card and only could secure by cash.

Mahahual MX is still in its infancy
You need Cash for just about every transaction. Most establishments do not accept credit cards and forget about trying to use a debit card. There is one ATM machine in the city and they never have cash on hand. This particular hotel could not run my credit card due to them not having a CC Machine. I almost had to drive to Chetumal to get cash but fortunately there is a Hotel that had a working ATM machine.

No restaurant at the hotel. The little beach across the street was not so inviting. The coffee maker was in poor shape and only instant coffee offered. The room was clean and basic and shower was fine. We were there middle of March. High winds so snorkeling wasn't really happening. Mahahual is geared toward divers. We've been and likely will never return
