Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel
"Wished they had a family room or at least put our two rooms together with an inside door."
The Telstar
"Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was free! Breakfast was great - loved the sausages! The road was a little noisy but we did have window open and we were a bit warm despite there being a little fan in room. Great location as was walkable to city centre, train station and the quayside. Would recommend"
The Devon Hotel
"Great stop off on the way to Cornwall, dogs welcome ,lovely hotel and great food at the pub."
Holiday Inn Express Exeter East by IHG
"Nice clean and modern room, quiet and peaceful night of sleep with comfy bed, bathroom a bit outdated but was perfectly fine. Only things I would say were a bit annoying were breakfast being so busy (appreciate we did stay on a saturday and sunday night in the summer holidays) and the hair dryer wasn’t working in the room. Paying for parking was bit much but expected due to location. Staff were very friendly and helpful particularly as we had a late arrival! Also great to be next to Miller and Carter."
Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf Club
"The staff were friendly and welcoming, the rooms spacious and clean, quiet and comfortable. The driving range was convenient, staffed by helpful and funny people. padel was also very quick to get to. It was easy going and relaxed. OK, the weather was great and that’s the icing on the cake."
Hotel Indigo Exeter by IHG
"Probably the nicest room I have stayed in! What a lovely hotel. The staff are so helpful and friendly and it must be the best location in Exeter. Breakfast was great and I loved having drinks at the fantastic rooftop terrace bar!"
Queens Court Hotel
"The room was very dusty. We complained and the receptionist was great, she went straight to the room straightaway to dust the surfaces."
The Gissons Hotel
"Great over night stay Very comfortable room"
Holiday Inn Express Exeter - City Centre by IHG
"Check in and check out was smoothe . Room was clean and very comfortable. Charlotte at reception was extremely helpful in advising me of places around the area to grab dinner. Did not fancy the free breakfast, crossaints were stale and scrambled eggs were lacking in taste. Good location, a 10-15 min walk from the high street area, and less than 10 min walk to the quay area where there are many restaurants. Overall, I would recommend this hotel."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Exeter
- Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Exeter is during January, February, and November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For a truly enriching experience, plan to stay for at least 2 to 3 days, allowing ample time to discover the city’s significant landmarks, cultural heritage, and historical sites. You can explore the stunning cathedral, take in the vibrant atmosphere of a small town, enjoy performances at the local theatre, and appreciate the friendly community. Additionally, Exeter University and its surrounding monuments offer great value for money, while budget-friendly canoeing options provide a unique way to appreciate the natural beauty of the area.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover last-minute deals for Exeter accommodation, visit the Deals or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted rates for hotels close to your travel date. By enabling email alerts or push notifications, you could stay informed about special promotions and flash sales, ensuring you don’t miss opportunities to save. Additionally, the Smart Shopping feature on the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, so if prices drop or new rooms become available, you're more likely to see these updates first and secure the best hotel deal for your getaway.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may fluctuate due to factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay at an Exeter hotel. For those seeking something distinctive, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and, at times, better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price leans towards the higher end, we’ll suggest alternative dates that might be more affordable, increasing your chances of securing a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre generally tend to be more expensive; however, with Exeter's superb public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative locations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
