Very dated and in need of a full refurbished! Only plus was the gym and pool.

Cold cold cold
My bedroom the bar area and the restaurant was uncomfortably cold to the extent that i needed an extra heater in my bedroom, I couldn't enjoy my meal due to being so cold.

Beautiful hotel
The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings. We stayed there for the rugby and we had a taxi into cardiff city center which cos about 15.00 pounds. The room was very nice and the queen size bed was very comfy. There was no draught available at the bar as they were all turned off.. Plenty of bottled beer to choose from.

Good overnight stay
Room was very spacious - all information given well. Food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably price. Bar was well stocked and very good beers on. Shower room was excellent - bed extremely comfortable (but was two matresses shoved together) - TV was small based on the room it was in. Overall a decent stay at a decent price

Amazing staff lovely hotel in quiet location
What an amazing experience. After a long drive to receive a friendly welcome from Stewart made me smile. He couldn’t do enough to make my stay comfortable. Richard in the bar extremely attentive by day 2 he’d remembered that I wanted a Diet Coke without me having to ask. I threw him on day 3 though with a pint of Guinness. Food is hot and a good price I had the chilli and the burger during my stay and have no complaints. I didn’t have breakfast so unable to comment how we it always smelt nice. All the staff I came across were very polite and attentive. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment this didn’t affect my stay. The gym is well equipped just a shame the spa wasn’t open but I will be back. There are some not so good reviews all I can say is expectations!! I would absolutely return here and have passed information on to our conference team as a possible future venue. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Still miles behind other hotels.
Stayed in an upgraded room!!!! This was my first stay for a couple of years at St Mellon’s. it has not improved. Worst thing is the poor lighting throughout the hotel. I know people will read this and say it’s omly lighting, but glaring lights everywhere, no where with a nice atmosphere. Bedroom, glaring main light or one small bedside lamp that looks like I came from a budget version of IKEA. Won’t stay again, better hotels available for the money.

No hot water so had to shower in the spa. The rest doesn’t really matter once you are using shared bathing facilities two floors down and 100 meters away

Tired and dated
Stayed here for 2 nights for business as it came-up as a last minute offer... just glad I didn't pay the normal room rate! Room was very tired, dated and quite dirty. Plaster on the walls was badly cracked and coming away, carpets looked like they could do with a deep clean, thick layer of dust all over the kettle, lino on the bathroom floor was coming away at the edges and around the toilet, and the shower was pretty useless as it took quite a while to get any hot water coming through and when it did the water pressure was very poor. Quite a small tv for the size of the room by today's standards, which isn't too much of an issue for me but the fact the signal kept going for a lot of the channels was very frustrating. Can't comment on the food or leisure facilities as I didn't use them. My advice - make sure you get a refurbished room!
