View of the Acropolis frim our room was so special and when lit up at night was amazing. We had drinks upstairs at the rooftop bar (bookings are necessary if you want to eat dinner) and the view of the Acropolis was fantastic. Hotel staff are welcoming and very friendly. 4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Athens
Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Athens is during January, February, and December when hotel prices are generally lower. For a budget-friendly experience, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is recommended to fully appreciate the city's significant historical landmarks and cultural attractions. During your visit, you can explore captivating museums, visit iconic monuments, enjoy lively cafes, and indulge in delightful dining options. Furthermore, Athens offers great value for money with its vibrant theatre scene and diverse shopping opportunities, ensuring that you make the most of your sightseeing tour without breaking the bank.
Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute accommodation deals in Athens, consider exploring the Deals or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted rates on hotels as your travel date approaches. Enabling email alerts or push notifications can help you stay informed about flash sales and exclusive promotions, increasing your chances of finding cheap hotels at the best prices. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're well-informed about any price drops or new availability for your preferred accommodations.
Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate due to various factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay in an Athens hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we’ll suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, enhancing your chances of securing the best deal.
Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre generally tend to be more expensive, but thanks to Athens's excellent public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well-connected. For those keen to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often great value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
