Ibis Stay in Cairns City 🏙
All was OK. The hotel was really well located right in the city near almost everything, whic was handy! The only downside is what is obvious; the hotel is pretty old and dated, needs a redone which i think they are working on👍 so that’s good. Should also consider putting power socket next to the bed. As bad as it gets really; worst place in Cairns
I booked this place after all our usual favourite places in Cairns were booked out for our 4 night stay, at least a month in advance. Requested 2 connecting rooms for family of four (two youngsters) and if possible, an hour early checkin. When we arrived no early checkin sorted and when returning discovered we were separated on different floors. When I explained that arrangement was no good and we needed to be at least adjacent or across from one another, we were told nothing could be done as they're booked out and don't have connecting rooms anyway. No effort to address the problem whatsoever. So asked for a refund, then we're placed on the same floor but 10 rooms apart. Asked to be moved closer for the following 3 nights but complete disinterest. Rooms were old, stained carpet on the floors, view of a white brick wall covered in bird poo and couldn't open the window due to pigeons nest poo stench directly below the window. Told to open shower door when showering in case fire alarm went off. The cleaners were friendly and efficient and 2 of the receptionists were helpful and tried, however, the two managers I had to suffer were unhelpful, unapologetic and unprofessional. We couldn't wait to leave this place and wouldn't stay again if it was free.

3 stars is about right. Renovations were happening so couldn’t use pool or restaurant but could use Novotel pool and had breakfast delivered to room. For a family it was ok. Had separate rooms with TVs but still pretty compact. Run down hence needed renovations. Service was really good and friendly. Location was good too walking distance to everything. Main let down was cleanliness. We found a cockroach!
