Exceptional 10.0
Small hotel with 24 hour staff who get to know guests. It was clean, with a comfortable bed. I was travelling alone as a tourist and felt secure there. It was a short walk to a Metro station, a good boulangerie, and restaurants. The breakfast was okay, not great. Very Good coffee, pastries and fruit. Scrambled eggs were hard and flavorless. Two of three kinds of cold cereal had chocolate flavor which was not appealing. I would recommend it to travelers and I would stay there again.

Lovely Little Hotel
This is a great little hotel in the Oberkampf neighborhood! The rooms and bathrooms are certainly a bit small by American standards, but normal-sized for Paris and are updated nicely. The beds are very comfortable with upgraded linens, and the windows are double-glazed to help keep out street noise. It was fairly hot one of the days we were staying here, and the A/C was much appreciated (and worked very well!). As some have mentioned, there is a "window" from the bathroom into the bedroom (to make the small bathroom seem not so small, I think), but there's a window covering on it, with only a 1/2" or so on each side that isn't covered. I guess if you're *super* shy, or are afraid that someone you're comfortable enough to share a hotel room with would be peeping on you through a 1/2" slit in a window covering into the bathroom, perhaps you'd be better off choosing a different hotel. It wasn't an issue for my sister and I who shared a twin room, nor for my parents who shared a room next door to us. Staff was very friendly, helpful, and multilingual. There's a Metro stop 3 minutes walk down the street (Parmentier station, line 3), and a TON of shops and restaurants nearby. I highly recommend this hotel for Paris newbies or experienced travelers, and wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

Great spot
Perfect little spot in a great location. My room was small but as a small person traveling solo it was fine. Very clean; the bed and pillow were very comfortable. All the staff I met were outstanding. My room was not very soundproof either from the outside or adjacent rooms.

Very good 8.0
Very good Hotel.
The elevator broke soon after our arrival and was only fixed when we checked out (we stayed for 6 days...). Unfortunately this happened last time too, but then we even got stuck in the lift for an hour until the mecanic arrived... The staff is really friendly. The bathroom is very, very small, but does it's job. The size of the room itself is good. The mattress is amazing for me. It's very hard, which I like. I slept through every night. It might be a bit noisy outside (as it is in every big city), especially on weekends or Easter holidays, but with ear plugs it was no problem at all. it's just a 5 minutes walk to the place de la Republique, where you have everything you need. Restaurants, Bistros, Shops, 24h Drugstores... but you should avoid that place on Saturdays as long as the Gillets Jaunes are doing the demonstrations every Saturday... We bought a "carnet" (tickets for the metro), but actually we needed the metro only once, besides the ways from and too the airport. The weather was nice, so we walked a lot. And if you wanna be faster, you can rent kickboards everywhere. Just download the App, connect it and go... and when you're finished you can practically just leave it, where ever you are... But back to the hotel: all in all it is very good, especially for Paris. (BTW: they offer breakfast, but we never went there, since it was not included and you have tons of options around...)

Fair 4.0
Nice hotel, ground floor rooms are terrible!
I am not sure if booking with Expedia gets you the worst room possible (like the notorious converted broom closets that many hotels offer as the Hotwire or Priceline room) but this seemed like the case. My room was on the ground floor with the door to my room less then 15 feet from the front desk so you hear people coming and going and checking in and checking out and the lobby tv and even normal voice level conversations. This means of course the desk can hear everything in your room, zero privacy! Also the window happened to be where a local business put its trash can so opening it made the room smell like garbage and people would throw bottles in it all night which was basically them slamming the flip up lid into my window over and over again. I complained twice and the desk guy was super nice but really couldn’t and didn’t offer to do anything about it, he had they “yeah it sucks I don’t know why we give that room to anyone” look on his face. This is the second time I have gotten a crappy room in an otherwise nice hotel by booking on Expedia, I probably won’t again.
