Noice level of front facing rooms
If you are assigned a room that is facing the Jaures Station, you will hear the clatter of the train coming and going all through the night. You will also hear the cars, buses, trucks and emergency vehicles that travel parallel to the train track. There is also a busy public sidewalk where I was could hear some of he voices of some rudely people coming and going. My room had double pane windows and that did not help. I also carry ear plugs while traveling and that did not help. There was few moments when it was almost silent but overall no. This is why I am forced to rate this hotel so low. If I was given assigned a room on the side or back of the hotel, my review would be higher. Jaures Station was within throwing distance from my window. The hotel is located in a working class neighborhood and does not cater to tourist. If you want to interact with the locals, you must speak French. There are professional and dodgy type characters in the area so choose who you interact with carefully. Along with the subway stop, there are lots nearby stores and restaurants. It is too bad that the hotel does have a refrigerator in the room, you could save a lot a money. The Jaures station was great. I was able to reach all of the popular spots in the city. However, the people in encounter in the information booth only spoke French. So if you need help, please have a map handle. No, I will not go back to this hotel.

Exceptional 10.0
Great hotel for the price! Fantastic Staff :)
We had a great stay at Hotel de la Comete. I'm not sure it would be for every American who travels to France, but if you're down for a budget place to stay that has just enough essentials then this is a great option. I loved the staff- they were very nice and even though there was a bit of a language barrier, they were wonderful. (One person spoke decent English). Room was pretty small (like, really small), but we had a beautiful view of the city which was nice. Yes, it's next to the train station but I didn't really notice it. I was honestly just happy that it was so close because you walk SO MUCH in Paris. I found it way more convenient than I did a nuisance. Other things to be aware of, since no other review had them is: there is a dog and a cat there so if you're allergic, stay away. I love animals so I enjoyed it. They have a refrigerator at the front desk and stored my insulin for me (thank you!). There is an elevator to the higher floors but there are about 20 steps just to get to the lobby so if you're disabled I'm not sure this would be a good option. Breakfast is good, but it's just coffee and bread (croissant and half a baguette). It's darn good coffee and bread, but you might be better off spending 6 euros at a local cafe. Wifi was fairly reliable and fast. If you're looking for a more local place to stay that is budget friendly I definitely recommend this place. If you're looking to have a true "getaway/luxury" Paris experience, you'll be upset.

Great option for budget trip!
Very clean, simple room. Concierge was very friendly and spoke English well (helped us figure out metro, etc.). Relatively safe area with what looked like a couple good bars/restaurants. Best part was metro convience! Was a little far (30 min metro ride) to all the tourist sites but always really easy to get to. A great find and great stay for the price paid. Breakfast Inclused was a crossiant, baguette, orange juice, tea/coffee, great bonus and enough to sustain my always hungry husband till lunch!! Initially brushed off bc blurry photos, would recommend to anyone traveling to Paris on a budget!

Fair 4.0
Very loud room, hard to sleep
The room faced the metro station which was extremely loud and it made it very hard to sleep. I could hear every train pull in, the metro announcements, as well as noise from loud people coming home at night even when the window was closed. It was like sleeping in the metro station. While proximity to the metro was convenient for getting around, sleeping in later and being tired all day meant I enjoyed my trip a lot less than I might have otherwise. On top of that I could also hear doors closing as well as toilets flushing and taps running in the hotel. Even though the room was non-refundable, this was the first time I have seriously considered changing hotels, and I have stayed at many budget hotels/hostels. The service was pretty good though: the room was clean and the staff was friendly and spoke english. However it was also very hot since I couldn't leave the window open because of the noise and didn't have a fan. I really don't recommend staying here since poor sleep will take away from your time in Paris, spend a little more or go further out so you can rest well and enjoy your time fully.

Very good 8.0
next to major metro line, metro 5,7 and 2
The trip booked by Expedia to Kiev via Munich was a real mess on their part. The 9 hours delay in flight at Munich that I wanted and booked was not done. The Air line personal said Expedia booked a early flight. Only all of my paper work still had the 9 hours delay I wanted. If I had not pulled the boarding pass to check the time I would have missed the flight. I only had 2-3 hours there. I was really not happy then. The trip from Kiev to Paris was smooth and on time with no problems. Even thought the two of us checked in at different times to pick up tickets using the paper copy's I had made for each of us.and came through customs at different times.
