Chaweng City Center
Chaweng City Centre buzzes with the kind of energy that makes you want to stay up all night and somehow still wake up for sunrise beach yoga. The stunning white sand of Chaweng Beach stretches for days, perfect for alternating between lazy tanning sessions and wild water sports. When the sun sets, the beachfront transforms with fire shows and music while the night market fills with sizzling street food and colourful souvenirs. You'll find everything from fancy seafood restaurants to grab-and-go pad thai stands within walking distance. Getting around is a breeze with songthaews (those red lorry taxis) cruising the main strip, though renting a scooter gives you freedom to explore the quieter corners.

Lamai City Center
Lamai City Centre pulses with energy from its neon-lit bars and aromatic night market. You'll find everything from sizzling street food stalls to beachfront shopping between dips in the turquoise water. Valentine Stone and the famous Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks offer unique sightseeing when you need a break from swimming or browsing the market stalls. Beachfront resorts and budget guesthouses inland give you plenty of places to crash after a day of fun. Zip around on rented scooters or catch a songthaew (shared red lorry) along the main beach road to explore the area's hidden corners.

Bophut Hills
Perched high above Koh Samui's coastline, Bophut Hills delivers jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand from luxurious private villas and exclusive resorts. The hillside location offers a peaceful retreat from the island's bustling beaches while keeping Fisherman's Village and Chaweng Beach within easy reach. Photographers will go wild for those golden-hour sunset vistas sweeping across the water. Getting around requires wheels – rent a car or brave the steep roads on a scooter if you're feeling adventurous. The dining scene centers around sophisticated resort restaurants with Thai fusion dishes and international cuisine. Most visitors split their time between private infinity pools and day trips to nearby beaches.

Coconut palms frame beaches where the Gulf of Thailand laps at your feet with bathwater warmth. The iconic Big Buddha watches over the island from its perch near Bangrak Beach. Fisherman's Village transforms from sleepy historic quarter to buzzing night market where you can haggle for everything from sarongs to street food. Chaweng Beach offers the full tropical fantasy—white sand, clear water, and beachfront dining. Lamai Beach provides a quieter alternative when Chaweng's energy becomes too much. Venture inland to Paradise Park Farm for panoramic views. Hire a motorbike to discover hidden waterfalls in the rainforest-covered central mountains. Don't miss the sunset from Lipa Noi Beach—it's worth planning your day around.

The Villager Fisherman's Village
"Endroit calme et bien situé près des services et de la plage qui est magnifique"
Chaweng Garden Beach Resort
"I chose this hotel because of its location on an amazing beach, and the fact I had read that is a more authentic and charming property than similar hotels in Chaweng. I did have minor worries about how planes flew overhead and it being right at the heard of the most lively part of Chaweng. However, as others have noted, the planes really aren't that bad, and you barely notice after a while. Also, it's a large proper and I really didn't hear any noise from any bars etc. If that's what you are after, it is right next to Ark Bar, which many people rate as the best on the island, and you only need alk a few steps along the beach to it. I got the cheapest room but it was spacious and had everything I needed. It was very close the restaurant, pool and best of all the beach. Most importantly for me, the sea is amazing for swimming. They do have red flags and warnings for jellyfish every day but I swam far out with no problems at all. There are jetskis in the sea but far out and quite far along the beach. The beach itself is gorgeous and most of the time you can get a lounger, though as ever, despite polite notices, people still 'reserve' some with a towel. The buffet breakfast is excellent and never crowded. They make your eggs, omelettes etc to order also. I've read complaints about price, value etc but I found it to be perfect. Chaweng is quite manic and as an area maybe I'd have preferred Lamia but Chaweng has the best beach and that's what I want."
Chaweng Regent Beach Resort
"I have stayed at the Chaweng Regent periodically for 15–20 years. It has an excellent location, a lovely beach and pleasant pools, within easy walking distance of central Chaweng but away from the busiest area. However, service can feel geared towards high-volume package tourism, which is frustrating when paying the full room rate. On this visit, my room was not ready at the advertised check-in time. After I complained, I was given a very comfortable replacement that appeared to have been prepared for honeymoon guests. Having just unpacked, I was then asked to move to my original room. I inspected it but declined: it was in a poor location beside the children’s pool and noticeably inferior. A few days later, the hotel generously upgraded me to an excellent beachfront bungalow, which compensated for the inconvenience. Nevertheless, this was my second stay this year, and rooms within the same category have varied considerably in location, condition and quality. Despite paying the full rate, I was concerned that my original allocation appeared to be one of the least desirable rooms. The facilities and location remain excellent, and this quieter visit was more relaxing than my stay in March. However, the inconsistency between rooms would make me nervous about booking again."

Therefore, being flexible with your travel dates could help you find a more affordable stay at a hotel in Koh Samui. For those seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we will inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average.
