Great, comfortable, budget hotel in great location
This hotel is located in the Batignolles area close to place du clichy which is a cute neighborhood with plenty of classic Hausmann Architecture and cafes and restaurants. Easy metro rides to all the touristy areas. The comfort level of this hotel was wonderful, comfortable beds, soft duvets, 2 pillows and a spacious bathroom by Parisian standards were all wonderful. The bathroom could use more counter top space for getting ready, but the large shower more than makes up for that. We booked 2 three bed rooms for our 6 person group. Basically we had enough room for our beds and our suitcases, which was fine since we spent very little time in the room. The same room size as a double will provide much more walking and leisure space, but the 3 bed option is ideal and far more cost effective for a group. The front desk staff were all extremely friendly and accomodating. Someone is staffed at reception 24hrs a day and Samir on the nightshift seemed like the only person in Paris concerned with hydration. The coffee and tea station in the lobby was a great place to enjoy a fresh pastry (from the boulangerie/patissierie around the corner) and an espresso in the morning. There is a small kitchen available to use which we did not partake of. There is a thermostat in each room to control the temperature, the entire hotel can only be on either Heat or Cool. During our stay, ONE customer complained of being "too cold" so the entire hotel changed to heat. We did NOT appreciate this.

Very good 8.0
This is a small budget hotel in a convenient location with an excellent and caring staff. Of all the hotels we stayed in, the staff at this hotel truly looked after us making sure that we knew how to get around and helping us with options to get to the airport. Our room was simple and clean with with firm but comfortable beds. There are hardwood floors, a wall mounted TV with remote and new windows and roll down electric shutters. The bathroom is tiled with a walk-in shower and a telephone shower with a large rainwater style head. There are environmentally friendly soap dispensers for hand soap and shampoo/body wash. We saw this option at several hotels during our stay in Europe. The towel rack is heated and fresh towels are supplied daily. The bathroom door slides open and closed which saves space. Tiny elevators are common in older buildings and this one is the tiniest with room enough for one person and luggage. Stairs are narrow and winding. (The original stairs were likely rebuilt to accommodate the elevator.) Halls are narrow. There is no breakfast or restaurant. There is free coffee and tea available in the eating area off reception and there there is a kitchen area with fridge, a few dishes, fridge and microwave. The area has many bakeries and groceries stores with meals ready to warm up so this is a good feature. There are a number of good restaurants for all tastes and budgets within a few minutes' walk. Excellent access to public transport. We would stay again

Not the Four Seasons but a much better value
Located on tiny Rue Darcet by the Clichy Metro line #2 stop. As you approach for the first time, you might wonder if you made a great choice as the building exterior appears old and ordinary. But, once inside, you meet the brother and sister proprietors who are all about "old school" hospitality and speak very passable English. And you go up to the room which was renovated perfectly 3 years ago (I was told). Strong and quiet HVAC. Heated towel bars. The bathroom has TWO large mirrors. The shower is enclosed by a neat folding glass door and works well. There is a LARGE trash receptacle which is silly to point out, I understand, but very much appreciated after the real tiny ones we've encountered across France. The bed had two excellent pillows and was firm and comfortable. Fast wifi. The shutters are automated and can serve as 100% blackout or slightly less dark if raised just a bit off the bottom. They don't serve breakfast but do provide complimentary coffee and a nice place to have items you've purchased at the boulangerie or supermarket a few steps away. Both hosts could not have been more helpful regarding directions and touring tips. The recommended Augustin restaurant a few blocks away was outstanding and filled with locals. There are many other local choices. And, for 50 euros, they linked us with a lovely driver who brought us back to Orly when our time in Paris ended.

Exceptional 10.0
Clean, comfortable, no-frills hotel in a convenient section of NW Paris. Stayed 5 nights in early Nov. 2019. Clean room, hot water, heat OK, TV worked, comfortable bed, safe in room worked. I was up on top floor and it was quiet with the windows closed. One night I returned to hotel at @11PM and needed to buy a bottle of water. The clerk just smiled and gave me one for free. Couple of supermarkets, several restaurants and cafes within 5 min walking distance. Place du Clichy Metro station a few blocks away and several bus lines stopped at same intersection. Once I left for the day I didn't return till the evening, so no need for a fancy hotel room. Recommended for no-frills solo/couple travelers. Small elevator - room for one (maybe two) persons max. Steep winding stairs up to top floor. But wasn't an issue for me. Had to drop off room key when leaving.

Friendly, well-priced hotel 3 mins from metro!
A great find in Paris: three minutes' stroll from Place de Clichy metro and with everything you need in the area to make for a pleasant stay (a wide selection of restaurants, cafes/bars, supermarkets, bakeries etc). Hotel Darcet is in many ways a typical Parisian hotel, built on 5 floors and with a tiny lift (2 people with modest bags or 1 person plus suitcase!) But it's a world away from the dark old days of weird plumbing and dark rooms. Instead, its 30-ish compact en-suite rooms are bright and pristine. All are newly furnished (pale wood furnishings and floors); the beds have nice firm mattresses, fresh white cotton bedding and the shower/WC is supplied with liquid-dispenser soap and fluffy white towels. There are electric blinds at the windows so you can cut down the light if you want a daytime siesta. Free wifi is available throughout the hotel. Downstairs there's a common dining area where guests can eat their own food. There's a kitchen with oven, fridge & freezer that guests can also use. Really handy! The reception desk is staffed 24 hours a day so you can come and go as you like - you leave your room key with them, which is normal hotel practice (I only mention it because it seems to have surprised other reviewers). The staff (who speak English) are great at providing local information, free maps etc. Check-out is at noon but the staff will look after your bags after this so you can enjoy Paris to the full on your last day.
