Lovely hotel with charm. We had a half Japanese and half continental room for 3, located in the annex, and it was pretty spacious. The staff was absolutely fantastic throughout our stay and we loved the dinner and breakfast. It was great to be able to use a shuttle (for a very small fee) to take us to the train station at the end of our trip as the walk is a bit much with suitcases.

What I like most : Japanese breakfast, Kaiseki dinner and the private hot spring. What I don't like: need to take shuttle bus to go up and down hill.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and transportation options are very limited. The last trip to and from the hotel is at 5 PM. Additionally, the hotel service bus is not free; you need to pay ¥200. I booked this hotel because I saw it on YouTube and expected the Kaiseki dinner to be served in my room. However, I was disappointed as we ended up having dinner in the restaurant on the 6th floor instead. The area was serene and cold, which might explain why there’s no air conditioning in the rooms (at least in mine). Some staff members are friendly, while others seem less so. Since they all wear masks, it’s hard to tell.

2/10 Poor

This is the MOST disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed in and I’m not exaggerating. I could post pictures, but it’s too disgusting to post. The building is 70 years old. The room STINKS. There’s mildew everywhere, shower, walls, lamps, etc. NO AC. The vent is full of disgusting grime. Dust EVERYWHERE. SMELLS EVERYWHERE including beds. I didn’t really sleep the entire night and my mom didn’t either. The room triggered all my allergies. and I was coughing the whole time. Never ever seen a hotel room so old and dirty. We woke up and got out of the hotel around 8am ASAP. I don’t even know why such hotel room exists in 2024. It was purely insufferable
