We stayed in a Studio room in the Honolua building, on the 2nd floor, very close to the beach. The room, view, galley kitchen, large bathroom was perfect for us. But the lanai overlooking the beach and pool was our favorite part.
The towel kiosk next to the pool does not provide beach umbrellas or any equipment for rent. There is a separate company they recommend for snorkel gear, floaties, boards, etc. that will deliver to the hotel, but you must call a little in advance. It was called 808 something. I didn't pay attention to the name as we were only there 2 nights. I will do better research next time.
The only downside to our stay was the front desk. At check-in and check-out, the 2 people that we interacted with were cold and unwelcoming, as if we were a bother. I think one of them was the manager. Not a good way to start or end our stay, but the middle was just great!
