We liked the cultural activities, the staff running them were great. The bedsheets on one of the beds were stained and we had to get the bed remade. Our room was very old, outdated and noisy and faced onto another multi story resort. We were supposed to get a free welcome breakfast but were not given directions to where the free one was so we ended up at the wrong restaurant. There were no spas and only one pool

Older style hotel with beautiful well-kept gardens, and so close to the gorgeous beach and the Whalers Village. Great entertainment every night

    One bad apple

Was not happy with the staff member during check in. She was not friendly nor welcoming. Encounter the same staff the next day when my room keycard did not work - again she has an attitude. Bit of a shame as other hotel staff which we encountered during our stay were very nice and friendly.

Very tired property, requiring a freshen up all over. Internet was terrible too, which in this day and age is appalling. I didn’t bother with free brekkie but those in my group said it was dreadful.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the hotel is in a great location and certainly met our expectations. We would stay here again. Our room had a lovely view and we spent many hours enjoying the lanai with a drink. The only thing which interrupted this tranquillity was the noise of doors slamming throughout the building - they don't seem to have any "soft-close" feature, and come 7am as people come and go for breakfast, we were woken up by continuous banging which we've never experienced in another hotel. The doors are very heavy and with a bit of wind, they pack a real punch. So no sleep-ins for us. Our only other comment is simply an observation which may be important for some travellers - the average age of guests at this hotel is about 55. Lots of people enjoying retirement, perhaps having a stake in a time share or just following the sun. If you're after more of a party atmosphere, or just a younger crowd, this isn't your hotel. However, for lovely quiet nights and a relaxed atmosphere, you will enjoy it as much as we did.

    Clean, good amenities

A bit pricey, but so is most of Kaanapali. Room was clean, buildings are well maintained but a little old.

We stayed here for 7 nights in July ’18. Whilst this hotel looks pretty much like it did when I stayed here as a kid in 1988, I would still highly recommend it! Our room was very clean and tidy, even if the furnishings seemed a little dated, it did not detract. It was cleaned and serviced every day. We stayed in an Ocean view room (2x queen bed). The beds were very comfortable. The one pool is fairly small, but it didn’t matter to us as we spent most of our time on the beach right out front. Just walk along to Black Rock and enjoy fabulous snorkeling. The real joy of this place is the beautiful gardens & the lovely staff. There are massive mature trees (lots of frangipani / plumeria) dotted around the huge lawn spaces, so plenty of shade to sit under and plenty of sunloungers to go around. And you can be miles away from other people if you so choose! The food is ok but not outstanding, but it didn’t matter as we walked 5 mins to Whalers Village most nights. We all enjoyed a ukulele lesson. If you’re looking for a peaceful place with nice spots to sit/sunbathe, and good value for money – this place is for you.
