My boyfriend and I had an amazing time here! The staff were incredible, the restaurants were great, the rooms were super nice and cool, and we loved the catamaran and snorkeling activities that were offered. It was great to be able to walk along all of the resorts as well. NOTE TO ALL MEN: All men are required to wear pants and closed toed shoes at all of the dinner restaurants here!!! My boyfriend wore the same pair of pants all week because he only brought one pair and we didn’t know. This resort deserves a 10/10 rating. Thanks for a great stay!

This the resort that our family loves. The only downside this time was my wife and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and I inquired about an upgrade. We were told it wasn't possible. The resort was definitely not full to capacity. This did not diminish our vacation, it was just disappointing not to get an option to upgrade. Overall, we love the pools, especially the Music pool. The restaurants are outstanding, we really enjoyed the Sapporo hibachi and the French la comedie. The taco bar at Agave is still a great food and social environment. The Italian was a nice dinner, but not our favorite. We also had a great meal at Rodizio at the palace. We love spending two weeks a year at this resort and cannot wait to return next year.

This resort was absolutely stunning! The room was so clean and the bed is super comfy. The food was out of this world, loved the Sapporo and agave restaurant. The wait staff were AMAZING! Actually all the staff was amazing. The ocean and beach were the best I’ve been to and it’s very clean. The one and only down fall was the bath water warm pool. I could not even swim in it due to its temperature. I understand it was 90 degrees out but the pool temp was really bad. We will definitely be back to this resort. But when we do, we will not be using Mexico travel solutions, aka speedy shuttle. They did not pick us up from the hotel to return to the airport. Prior to the trip the rep told me 6:00am Tuesday morning and they never showed up.

The property is modern, clean and has several areas. Our suite with a sea view had a view that took your breath away, a jacuzzi on the balcony, a large bathroom with a shower, and 2 very spacious sinks. The concept is very modern and minimalist, which I really appreciated. The two things that bothered me were that the main elevator was not working and I had to walk too far to the next one since my room was on the 4th floor, and the other thing was that my room was not clean and had a slightly unpleasant smell, but when I made the respective complaint, they came to clean it immediately. The staff was incredible, friendly, helpful, smiling, like waiters, cleaning and gardening, everyone was very polite. There were many activities with the entertainment group in the pool, DJ and games areas. Barcelo has everything and more. You don't need to leave the facilities because you can find a casino, mall, night club, shows, golf, karting and much more that I couldn't go to due to lack of time. The restaurants are spectacular, my favorite was the Japanese one and our dear waitress who showed off when she knew it was my husband's birthday and our anniversary. It was truly a great experience to have stayed at Barcelo Maya Rivera and I recommend it to everyone. Thank you so much for the chocolate covered strawberries and for making our stay unforgettable. We will be back for sure!!!

The staff were mostly friendly; however 3 bad experiences can taint a vacation. We went to hotel bar at 330pm on Wednesday, 7/31 and there weren't many customers. There were 3 staff members working and on waitress even walked past us twice. At no time did anyone come to greet us or offered to take a drink order. We ended up leaving and going to the buffet where for the first time a staff member offered to sit us. She plaved us off in a terrible table next to the kitchen where staff walked in and out. The place was almost empty. Nobody likes being treated as less than. I won't go into the 3rd aweful experience, but it was similar.
