Great location close to shops, transport and restaurants. Excellent for anyone cruising to/from Sydney. Tram is at the front and goes directly to Circular Quay. Clean tidy rooms, however there is mould in the shower.

A bargain inner city location.
Excellent location to tram and Central train station. Lots of restaurants around, mainly Asian as this location is close to China Town. A pleasant walk or tram ride to city centre. Dining room and hotel bar on premises. This is a popular hotel for travellers despite the rooms being a little tired. However if sparkles are not what you are after, it’s a great place to stay.

Great location near Central Train station, local streetcar line and China Town. Dozens of great restaurants within walking distance and easy access on streetcar to harbor. Nice walkable neighborhood. Clean, comfortable rooms.

Stayed here for a couple of nights and will be returning as quite happy with the set up for a city hotel and the prices. Staff are friendly and helpful. Room was a decent size, bed comfortable and shower good. Plenty of choices at breakfast and gluten free options but could do with a better GF selection on the evening menu (maybe a pasta dish?)

Vibrant.
We always love staying at The Great Southern Hotel because it is in such a convenient position and it is always clean and comfortable.It is in Chinatown and is a fairly short walk to Darling Harbour. We thoroughly enjoyed the Teen and Kids Lion Dancers yesterday, bringing good luck to the businesses in Dixon Street for the Lunar New Year.

The crane in the bathroom was loose. The bed was to soft. The breakfast was very good and it was cheap. The people in the reception was very kindly and helpful. The room was not so expensive, so in total it was a good place to stay.

Hotel near main station
The hotel was very near the main station - easy to walk to and back. It clearly had a long history, but the rooms need refurbishing. Ours had sticky carpets and seriously dated decor, however the room was big and there was a kettle and complimentary tea and coffee.
