Attention to residents needed
Ned is a very popular hotel and the ambience and service is beyond compare. The classy hotel is ever buzzing. The smallest details in luxury have been well taken care of. The quality of food in its restaurants is good. However, in my week stay a few things definitely were cause of inconvenience . The place is open to walkins . The casual cofee place where one can sit and relax is never available from 10 am as there are constant load of walk-in ppl for meetings with their laptops sitting for hours. At lunch time again there is queue of people from the Time restaurants opens. There is no exclusivity in terms of seating to the hotel residents and hence always struggle to get a comfortable corner and stuck in queues. There are 4 restaurants which they say exclusive to members, however there is no comparison between what is served and the menu over there and the ones in exclusive area, which is quietly tucked in basement. As a resident we pay 450 dollars plus per night for a stay in the most basic room.... it is not justified for us to be queuing up or not be able to access the amenities at ease. In the evening beyond 7 it is impossible to get a place to any of the restaurants if not booked well in advance. Forget about sitting Even a casual drink on a bar could be a luck. I strongly recommend there needs to be an exclusivity to the residents. As much as I liked the place and feel , I dreaded waking in an out of the hotel due to constant queues outside and enormous crowd all time

Beware of the Party Scene
We spent one Saturday night at The Ned in September. Upon arriving at the hotel, there was already quite a party scene and large crowd which we were not expecting. It felt like walking into a club vs. a nice hotel as you had to walk past large groups heavily drinking, several open air restaurants, and a live band. Could be cool if that is your vibe but as we were with my 70 year old parents it was not ideal. Check in was easy, minus the noise from everything I just mentioned. We could also hear the lobby party sounds from our room. Upon check in I had asked about dining at one of the hotel restaurants we had liked the menu for. The desk said that wouldn't be a problem and she would let them know. When we came down for dinner, the hostess at the restaurant was very rude to us and said they hadn't contacted her and there was no room for the rest of the night. The desk was very apologetic (which I appreciated), and let us know they did in fact contact her and weren't sure what happened, and they found us room at a different restaurant. The room itself was very nice with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. There were also some nice touches unique to the hotel, and the decor was playful and fun (although my parents felt the hotel room was too dark). Overall it seemed like a nice hotel, but for our personal experience it was only an OK stay especially for the high price.

Good 6.0
The hotel is lovely but before you decide to stay here please note that this hotel is highly status-driven. If you are looking for a service-orientated hotel, this isnt the right one for you. Being a guest doesnt just guarantee you access to the rooftop bar and other facilities, which I completely understand. We had drinks at the Long Bar and the staff there were absolutely brilliant, very warm and friendly. We then went to the Vault Bar& Lounge and found the service utterly atrocious. Staff are rude and snobby. The idea of “exclusivity” and “status” isnt enough excuse for attitude and rudeness. We weren’t there to feel exclusive, we were for the service. The staff there should each take a chill pill. We didn’t stay long as we couldn’t stand the pretentious vibe there and continued drinking at the Nickel bar where we enjoyed more. We also tried the spa which is great and staff there are so friendly.

Watch out FINE PRINTS and EXTRA FEES for using the gym and pool if you book through EXPEDIA, for which the hotel bothers to charge you a GBP20 for accessing the pool out of the five star room rate that they are already charging and making these customers (booking through EXPEDIA rather than directly with the hotel) feel like a second class citizen of the hotel. I returned to the hotel after a three night stay booking direct with gym access and was only able to book through EXPEDIA on a train for a further night returning from my business trip. I was shocked to find out while I am checking in late at night that such reservation is for a room bare rate excluding any facilities for hotel guests. I was very frustrated that my intended purpose to freshen up at the gym facilities after returning from a business trip is denied. All the positive experiences from my earlier stay that prompted me to return was wasted by the hotel caring to charge small fees. I cannot think of any hotel at this category would only give a room to its guests with no facilities at all, only to be reminded during the late check in to read the fine print. So, please book with caution. YOU ARE ONLY GETTING A ROOM AND ACCESS TO PUBLIC RESTAURANTS , THAT’ S IT!

4 out of 5. Some staff are great. Others less so.
Stunning hotel. Wanted to stay here for a while. I spend 2-3 nights a week in London hotels on business. Was upgraded on arrival to a medium room and was given a card the got me access to the club and bars below the ground level. (Didn’t use it so cant comment). Very pleasant reception staff, made me feel welcome immediately. Luxurious room. Cowshed toiletries in abundance. Clean and aircon worked perfectly. The bar area is extremely busy, they could do with not cramming as many people in it. If you want to get served at the bar it’s a bit of a wait. Some of the staff are lovely, others are not and are not very human at all. One or two are quite po faced and should be retrained as it’s not very welcoming. Got the impression they were having a bad day or not really interested in their jobs or the guests. The Ned management need to address this. It’s not about being exclusive and cold. It’s about being inclusive and welcoming. This soured the experience for me. As a result I have booked other hotels where the staff are “human” for the coming weeks rather than rebook The Ned.
