Very nice stay
The room was very spacious. Everything was clean and well kept. We always hung up our towels, but they gave us new towels everyday. We didn't really like the slats in the bathroom door. And the staff while nice and polite weren't helpful in suggesting local businesses. The location is excellent right next to the MRT and many buses nearby. It's a little strange because you get in from an alleyway.

Very good value for the price.
Good value for the price. Well-situated and suited me fine for how long I was there. Well-worth it. Not prefect as for a 5-start hotel but great overall

Good location
The location of the hotel is very good, right next to metro, tram and close to the airport bus stop. The entrance is from the side of the building.

Helpful security staff- uncle Tom Cheung
Read others’ reviews so decided to book this hotel. Should exit A1( has Lift) after alight at Sai Ying Pun Not A2 ( staircases to climb) Truly hotel has this uncle Tom Cheung who is super helpful ,lucky met him on the day I checked out ( Raining day) First he helped me to get my late lunch (3pm) at level 3 restaurant which kitchen already closed at 2pm Secondly he helped me to get a recycle bag for my cookies that avoid wet in raining day Then he offered me an umbrella and bring me to exit A2 lift which I didn’t know on my first day to hotel - most of us take exit A2 although is nearer to hotel but need climb up many staircases with your luggages

The hotel is located in the very convenient area to take a bus, a tram, and subway, and many shops around in a walking distance. Room is clean but one outlet was not working to charge. There are no outlets around the beds if you want to charge your phone or your tablet. The security guard at the entrance called Tom Chang is very friendly with big smiling always, gave us many local tips for both Hong King and Macau. We enjoyed to stay at this hotel.

2/10 Poor

This hotel has black mould in its rooms. It is not safe to stay in. If I could give negative rating I would. Staff refused a refund even though I left the hotel due to health issues with their black mould. Terrible. Never ever stay here. Negative 10 rating on all fronts.

Pros: MTR station next to this property; lots of local restaurants nearby; rooms are clean; room rate is affordable. Cons: Lost air conditioning 3 times during our 20days stay. Got woken up due to stuffy air and getting hot due to no air conditioning. Need to move to different rooms twice due to failing air conditioning. Head of management in the property offered us to cancel our room and refund for the one day, this is not a correct action proposed by head of management. How can they tell us to go somewhere else! After some discussion, we got a suite for one night & late checkout for next day. This hotel is very strict in checking/checkout time. It never supports early checkin. And late checkout will have surcharge. The lighting is badly designed. Very dimm in the room. There are 2 vertical light along the edges of the mirror. They are the main light at the restroom with some minor ceiling lights. Very dimm overall. The hot water faucet control is unreliable. It has cold water for the first 5 to 10 minutes. Then hot water starts. Some times, only hot water comes out, I was not able to change to colder water for shower. Overall, I wii not stay in this hotel again. Is all the negative worth the lower room rate? It is a call by the customer who wants to reserve this hotel.

I got a hard time finding the entrance of the hotel. The hotel entrance was on the side street to the right of the Sai Ying Pun MTR station exit A2. The entrance of the hotel building was like a regular residential building, nothing’s fancy. Hotel lobby is on the 7th floor, which is very small and kind of dark. My first impression wasn’t the best. However, it was a nice surprise that the room was very nice. It was clean and modern. The bathroom was huge. It was well equipped. They have a Dyson hair dryer, mini fridge, electric kettle, an umbrella, bath gel, shampoo, conditioner, disposable toothbrush and toothpaste, small sewing kit, …They gave you two free canned mineral waters. Staff at the lobby was ok. The cleaning lady was very polite. She asked me if I needed anything when I saw her near the elevator. Bath towels are fluffy and clean. If I’m being picky, I would say that the internet connection could be better. The wifi connectivity stopped a couple of times. The lighting of the desk is a bit dim. The TV was mounted in front of the bed, not at the living room area. Overall, it’s a great hotel for the money. I would stay here again.

Great trip because of Tom
The location is fantastic to explore Hong Kong. We were able to find convenient western food and delicious local food within minutes of the hotel. It is so convenient to have the tram and subway right next to the hotel. The crowning glory of our experience was Tom. Technically a security guard but really, a concierge, tour guide and super helpful guy! He really made our trip better in many ways! Thanks a lot, Tom!

Genuinely a great hotel. If you'd like to get an authentic taste of Hong Kong with easy access to transit, this is an excellent location. The hotel is right above a subway station, has tram and bus stops directly outside, is an easy walk to the ferry pier, and the frontdesk can order a taxi if you need one. The hotel exits directly onto the fish market, is around the corner from the traditional medicine wholesale market, and is a short walk to the antique markets along Hollywood Road which make for perfect sightseeing on foot. The room size for the cost is very fair for Hong Kong. Windows from the rooms give you views of the bay and/or the peak depending on which direction you face. The hotel itself has no real food options, but there are many good dining spots nearby and a 7-11 across the road. The staff is friendly and the front desk can provide an electrical adaptor if you need one. One person who really made our stay welcoming was Tom CT Cheung, the daytime security guard on the first floor. He gave us great advice on places to go, local restaurants to try, and good places for shopping. He is a great ambassador for the EcoTree. I'd gladly stay again!

Nothing fancy and seems very quickly put together, but decent for the price. The doorman was friendly, and the front desk was mostly helpful. Our safe wasn't working (receptionist fixed it immediately), and the fridge got disturbingly hot on the outside (we were told it just does that, which seemed bad for a place called "Eco Tree") but otherwise worked fine. My family got a suite, including a surprise second bathroom, which was convenient because the doors have vents, so you can hear everyone's business on the toilet. We had space to give someone privacy while still being able to brush our teeth in another bathroom. There were some in-room ammenities with more available to buy from a vending machine in the lobby (but only takes Octopus cards). Biggest complaints: 1) there are no convenient electricity outlets near the beds and instead A LOT of unlabeled light switches, including master switches, which got confusing and annoying, 2) housekeeping is a bit odd in that they'd overstock our slippers but not clean our cups (which were dirty when we arrived), and 3) I hurt my foot but there was no ice machine to make an ice pack, and even reception couldn't help. Probably not the best hotel for first-time HK visitors, but it's serviceable for those who know their way around already.

Thank you for hiring Mr. Tom CT Cheung!
Eco Tree Hotel did a remarkable job by hiring a gentleman called Mr. Tom CT Cheung. Mr. Cheung is a security guard for the hotel and building, but he went above and beyond his duty to help us throughout our 7 day stay in the hotel. He’s super knowledgeable, warm, and energetic. He not only answered ALL of our questions with great detail, but also made sure that we knew how to get to our destinations. With his help, we were able to see more places and saved more money than we expected. Every morning, we were used to being greeted by him, asking him questions, and having small chats with him. When we needed help, we knew he would be there downstairs the next morning to give us guidance. He made us feel at home the entire time. That’s a very special feeling for a traveler. When traveling to a busy city like Hong Kong, it’s not easy to meet someone as warm and caring as Mr. Cheung in a hotel. He does not just care about his job — he genuinely cares about people he meets. To us, it’s not an overstatement to say that Mr. Cheung is an amazing representative of Eco Tree hotel and the city of Hong Hong. Mr. Cheung, thank you so much for all of your help!
