Nice, Simple hotel, easy to access Paris
We arrived late at around 10:30pm, check in was very quick and we went straight up to our room. Hotel floor was quite creaky so it was hard to keep quiet. Room wasn’t the biggest but it was all we needed, a bed to sleep in and a bathroom with a toilet, sink and a shower. We had some very noisy neighbours which proved the walls in the hotel were paper thin. Conversations could be heard throughout the evening when returned to the hotel. Breakfast was ok, standard continental breakfast, pastries, ham, cheese, bread & cereal etc. Tea and coffee were on offer throughout the day. Shame they crossaints always seemed to run out at breakfast, some french people were very greedy with the pastries at breakfast! Easy access to two metro stations- Clignancourt and jules Joffren- both a 5 minute walk from the hotel. About 45mins on the RER and Metro to reach the hotel itself, give and take a little bit of walking in between. We never stayed close to the hotel but there were a few (what looked like) nice cafe bars to eat/ have a drink- which were busy every evening on our return from our busy days out. Reasonably priced for what we got, all in all a good stay, slight shame about the noise from creaky floors and paper thin walls!

Tiny rooms, but excellent staff
Our room was tiny. I know we didn't pay much but it was literally the size of the bed with about 30cm of empty space round the three sides. We couldn't both be standing up at the same time as there is barely room for one person to pass round the bend and impossible for two people to go past each other. The bathroom was great however with a large, clean. modern and powerful shower. The staff at the hotel were brilliant - really friendly and helpful at all times, and the included continental buffer breakfast was excellent too and all this helped make up for the cramped room. Beware if you get a room overlooking the street at the front - there's a bar opposite called the Saveur des Tropiques which is open until 2 or 3am and there's always someone outside having a cigarette and shouting his head off at top volume on his mobile phone which will keep you awake - not the fault of the hotel. And use Metro Jules Joffrin - it's only a few minutes walk down a really nice street to the local Town Hall and much nicer than the walk and the area leading to the other nearby metro at Porte de Clignancourt.

It's... a hotel
Not a lot to say about this hotel. It was fine. The staff was lovely. The room was the tiniest room ever. It had a bed, which was fine, but standing so close to the window that the window couldn't open properly. On the other side, we could reach into the equally tiny bathroom, that's how close it was to that. There was a night light on one side of the bed (the side with the night stand). The other side of the bed had the light switches for the main room light and a super bright light that was for some reason over that side of the bed. There was a decent tv with 35 channels, 2 of which were in English. The remote worked... sometimes. There was a wall plug on one side of the bed, not on the other. The bathroom had a sliding door (a normal one wouldn't have fit). Shutting the bathroom door exposed the matted glass side of the shower cabin, so the other person in the room could sort of watch the shape of the showering person going about their business, which was strange. The bathroom was clean, although there were some maintenance issues (painted-over water damage etc). The breakfast was also fine, different kinds of bread, cereals, coffee, tea, juice. The hotel was within walking distance from two different metro stations, so it was easy to reach the city center. Overall the hotel was just fine.

Nice hotel, good area
Nice hotel, the staff was really friendly and sociable. We had a standard double size room- it is a bit small, not a lot of space to move around..overall it was ok as after all you go on your holiday to see the city and you go out a lot so the space in the room is not that important. The only thing I didn't felt to good about is the overall cleanliness of the room. You could have seen there was something done as there were clean towels in the bathroom, clean sheets on the bed, it's just the other stuff that I saw: floor carpets were not vacuumed, shower not properly cleaned... just some small details that would have made the first impression much better. Overall, it was good. I would go back .

Nice enough hotel just 400m from metro station
I was looking for an inexpensive hotel in a safe area reasonably close to a Metro station. Ibis Styles is a good hotel chain, and Ibis Styles Montmartre Nord fitted my spec. Guide books (especially American ones) don't rate the 18th Arrondissement very highly, but we found it perfectly acceptable. Maybe the streets were a little strewn with litter (but much of Manhattan is just as bad!) Also, people with white faces may be in the minority - but that simply meant there was a rich diversity to the restaurants and food shops. And it was touching to see how a large, loud group of young "males of colour" immediately stepped to the side of the pavement and quietened down to allow a couple of white "oldies" to pass once they saw us. They were clearly nice people who would have been aghast if they thought we were nervous of them, because of racial stereotyping.
