"The hotel was in an excellent location and my five night stay was good value for money. The bedroom was spacious and well equipped inc a fridge which is really helpful when staying for a longer trip. The hotel is well maintained and the staff helpful. The conference organiser Dan was particularly helpful and approachable. Note that the bedroom doors are heavy and shut loudly which does mean that there is some external noise noticeable from the corridor at night."

8/10 Good
"Hotel was clean, neat, and today. Staff were friendly. Room was spacious and well prepared however I could not get the air conditioning to work, which ultimately disturbed my sleep. The breakfast was very basic, but that’s a given these days. I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel and was actually impressed by the breakfast offering. The general food on offer was also very limited. I ordered pizza and some chips. The pizza was like a frozen one from a supermarket as were the chips. Very overpriced and poor quality."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Birmingham

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly times to visit Birmingham are January, August, and December, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those looking to explore the city's rich history, cultural landmarks, and vibrant shopping areas, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is recommended. During your visit, you can enjoy the city's theatre scene, dine at various restaurants, experience local bars, and take in the family-friendly entertainment on offer. Birmingham's friendly atmosphere and notable monuments, including its esteemed university, also contribute to its appeal as a destination that offers great value for money.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To discover enticing last-minute deals to Birmingham, start by exploring the Deals and Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may find discounted rates on hotels as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to stay updated on special promotions and flash sales, increasing your chances of securing a great deal. Additionally, the Smart Shopping tool within the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you’re well-informed. With these resources, you could find excellent accommodation deals before your spontaneous getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can differ depending on various factors such as the hotel’s location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay in a Birmingham hotel. For those in search of distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised experience and may sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you whether the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price appears to be on the higher side, we’ll suggest more affordable dates, which could increase your chances of securing a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but with Birmingham's outstanding public transport links, you may discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money to be found. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
