Character hotel in good location
Good location near Southbank and a nice character filled hotel. Minor annoyance of a lot of nearby construction, but not a significant issue.

Great location & price, but on a busy street
Pros: Great location, nice accomodations, good price, helpful staff, clean Cons: on a busy intersection, thin walls I arrived late which wasn't an issue. The bar is open until 3a for guests (but no food). The rooms are large and comfortable and come with small fridge of complimentary drinks. A few things to note: The hotel is very well situated for the inner city. It is a short walk to the Waterloo station. The Blackfriars Bridge is a couple blocks away. It is also within walking distance to Borough Market, the Millenium Bridge, and Tate Modern. That also means it is in a busy section of town. I stayed on the first floor and could hear traffic noise during expected hours. The walls are not especially thick, as I could hear my room neighbor talking on his phone. The staff was always polite and helpful.

Great Location and bargain price
We stayed for New Years Eve, and what a fab location to get to the Fireworks. Booked months and months in advance we got a great bargain price, which made it much better value than a travel lodge or similar. The rooms was a bit tired, but good size, and nice and warm and welcoming. We were on the front, 3rd floor and could see St Pauls from the window. The free mini bar was very welcome, the coffee machine great, and tea/hot chocolate too. The bed was very comfy too. We worried the noise from the bar would be too loud, but it was lovely and quiet, the noise outside stopped around 1 after most people had left the area, so very impressed. The only slight let down, we'd booked a table for dinner, and felt the bar needed more staff, it was vey quiet still (6pm last order for food) yet had to wait an age to get served, the bar server also tried to serve someone who had just walked to the bar when I'd been stood waiting for at least 3 other customers first, I did point this out and got served. The food itself was very good, but arrived almost cold. We didn't complain, just ate it, but it was a let down. We also had to go back to the bar as we'd been charged the full price, rather than the 10% discount for residents. Overall we put most of this down to New Years eve, even though it was still quiet at this point. It wouldn't put us off staying again, but we decided to breakfast elsewhere.
