2 nights in Paris
We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights in Paris and the first night we had problems with the airconditioning. It wasnt cooling well. We mentioned it to the reception and they were set on taking a look and fixing it. The next night the air did not cool at all. We had to sleep with the windows open and we were scared for our small children sleeping in the room next to ours since there was a balcony in their room and we were afraid they could try to look out the balcony and fall. Needless to say I did not sleep well that night. The next morning when we were doing the check out I mentioned the fact the air broke to the receptionist. She was completely unapologetic sating they had problems with the entire air system and instead gave an excuse saying "Oh well, it is as if it happened to you in your home. We could not get someone to come fix it at night." There was no apology, no compensation, nothing.... What bothered me the most was the uncaring attitude she gave and the fact she expected a customer (paying over $450 a night at a 4 star hotel) to deal with their hotel's technical problems. I believe if they would have taken the complaint into account the first night then they would not have had that problem the second night. And what 4 star hotel does not have a technical staff on call.

Good
Had Potential
Pro: The hotel is located in a nice area and fairly close to public transportation and Eifel Tower. Once the new station is competed it would be even closer to a RER stop. Overall the hotel had a very nice and comfortable appearance, good sized room, and I enjoyed the hand written welcome note and accommodations. Con: I understand things happen, but was disappointed that my reservation was not honored as booked. I booked this hotel four months in advance of my trip to Paris with the indication of needing a two twin bed arrangement for three nights. We arrived later in the evening for check-in and our room was set up as the single queen configuration. After notifying the desk staff of the error, they advised that a two twin room setup was not available that night. The desk clerk apologized and said they would have no problem putting us in the correct room for the rest of the stay. He advised that I talk to the day desk staff to get that switched the next day. After checking with the day desk staff, I was advised that there were still no twin bed room configurations available due to flooding in the only available room. The hotel staff was polite and apologetic and allowed me to cancel the remainder of my reservation without fees. For the price of the room, we needed a room that met our needs. I booked a room at a new hotel that was cheaper, same general location, and with better access to public transportation.

Good
It was a good hotel, but certainly not worth for money I paid. Little disappointed for the location being not so close to Eiffel tower as it was described. I was given an accessible for wheelchair bathroom somehow. There was no shower curtain, we had to wipe out the whole bathroom floor & toilet each time after shower otherwise someone would fall. Not even put enough towels to clean the floor. It was ridiculous. I also had to wash each coffee cups and glasses before use them, they were covered dust. I tried to understand the cleanness of the room and didn't complain. But I found several curly hairs inside of water tank of coffee machine, I decide to write this review. The most disappointment was the breakfast. They served not so fresh bread, dried toast and old prosciutto ham that was almost turned grey. Unbelievable. I am a frequent traveler and it was my fourth visit to Paris in one year. I paid for the hotel the most for this hotel than any other place, but the quality of the stay was the worst. However, the staffs were very kind, including during breakfast service. The front desk ladies were very helpful to hold my bag before/after check in/out. There were the only reason I didn't make a complaint during my stay.

Exceptional
Great location. Very nice hotel!
We stayed at Le Derby Alma in July and really enjoyed our stay. My husband and I were traveling with a group of friends who had a family suite, which was spacious and a bit more luxurious than our standard room. The standard room we booked was a bit smaller, but that is common in Europe. We did however have a magical view of the Eiffel Tower. One really awesome piece was that the family suite came with a free cellphone. We could take the phone out of the room and use it to make local and US calls for free. It was preloaded with maps and was super helpful to use since our personal phones were useless without wifi. The hotel overall was very clean and comfortable. The location is great. Walking distance to the Eiffel, shops, restaurants, etc. We had the hotel breakfast once and it was delicious. Different meats, salmon, eggs, fruit, etc. The hotel staff were very friendly and Frank went above and beyond for us. My husband ordered flowers for my birthday through the hotel and they were the most beautiful roses I've ever seen. The hotel did tell him they would send up a bottle of champagne but never did. Would definitely stay here again!

Very good
Quaint hotel in good location. Excellent Staff!
The hotel is in an excellent location, the 7th district of Paris. A residential area near the Eiffel Tower and generally walking distance to many other attractions. Although we used the Big Bus two day hopper to get around to the main attractions. Several shops and cafes/restaurants nearby. Taxis are easy to get and are about 17EUR to the Place De la Concorde and the Saint Lazare train station. The staff were exceptional! Always greeted us (in English) when we came back from an excursion and wanted to know about our day. The rooms were a bit small compared with North American standards but were larger than we expected. The bed was a queen size and very comfortable. The shower had a very small glass enclosure. It took a bit to get used too to avoid excess water on the floor. One issue we had when we checked into the room it smelled like smoke even though we requested a non-smoking room. When we brought it to the attention of the front desk they were very apologetic and made sure housekeeping was aware of it. We checked out 5 days later and there was still a hint of smoke.
