Newly renovated rooms, VIP-gold member hiccup
I have been staying in Royal Plaza 4 times since 2013. The rooms were newly renovated in 2019 to a modern look. Somehow I prefer the old rooms better as they feel more luxurious despite the age. The new rooms feel more like a 4 stars hotel room. The check in staffs were efficient and hospitable. Unfortunately, they were unaware that this hotel is a hotels.com VIP property, and that hotels.com gold member guests are entitled to free room upgrade and free 2 hours late checkout. When I checked in and asked them for late checkout, I was told that the hotel is fully booked on the day of my check out so they cannot give me a late checkout. On the day of checkout, after checking my reservation and finding out that this hotel is a hotels.com VIP property, I explained to the check-in staff that hotels.com Gold member guests are entitled to a free upgrade and 2 hours late checkout as shown on the hotels.com listing. None of the other staffs at the front desk were aware as well, and when they checked with another backoffice staff, they came back with the same answer. Only after I showed them the hotels.com confirmation (which was not in English and need to be translated), and the offer on hotels.com app, did they approve the late check out. However, I missed out on a free room upgrade. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed my stay in the Royal Plaza on Scotts, and the check-in staffs were professional and courteous.

Amazing Location
Location is very convenient, it’s close to anything and everything. Hotel staff is a mixed bag. I would strongly recommend Mr.Steve, who helped me and my family in every way possible. But on the day of check out when asked whether time can be extended in one of the rooms ( we had two rooms ) the answer came as a flat NO. Yes I know they are sold out and yes others are waiting, but the way he said it there was something wrong with his tone. The duty manager was an argumentative man, and talking to him was an exhausting experience ( a situation which was sorted later regarding payment for an extra bed ) What really pissed me off was, I was awake till 3 am one morning and was in my room sleeping when I heard a terrible drilling noise just above my ceiling, when I contacted the reception they told me some urgent repair work is going on and they can give me an extra room for the time being to “sleep” and this “urgent” repair work was done two days in a row without any prior information. The staff at this hotel is a bit weird. The rooms are dated and the carpet honestly needs to be changed. There are better hotels at this price available in orchard road, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone personally. This hotel remains really busy through our the year, so don’t think they will take my feedback into account but honestly they need to update their rooms and train their staff a little better.

A good stay!
This was my first time at this hotel and overall it was not a bad experience. It is centrally located, only a few steps away from Orchard road and right across from the Far East Mall. It is a very busy hotel that catered mostly to families with kids. If you like the little ones running everywhere, yelling , screaming, crying, this is definitely the place for you (Unfortunately it is not my cup of tea) My room was specious, and the bed very comfortable and let’s not forget a nice bathtub with good amenities. The breakfast had a large selection of Western and Asian food and the service was impeccable. it’s a good value hotel and I recommend it, but don’t forget to bring your hear plugs with you to deal with the adorable ….kids.

Poor
I can’t believe how bad their services are
My parents stayed at Royal Scotts for 2 nights, family room. The booking was made under my name as I helped them to book. Earlier this morning, unfortunately, the card that my parents brought out was having an issue. They could not enter their room. So, they went to the receptionist to seek for a help. The receptionist called my mobile to clarify and ask for additional information. I would never felt so insulted if he tried to clarify. Instead, after much effort to tell him that i have registered my parents late at night when they arrived, he continued talking and stating “because you did not register your parents...” Why would I not register my parents when i booked the room just for them? I could not believe the level of the receptionist at Royal Scotts. I had told him that my parents have flight to catch on and he insisted to talk about how i did not register my parents? Why is it 100% our issue? Why did anyone check if its the hotel’s system issues? No one replies to my email - after providing all the information needed - to say thanks or at least to acknowledge my email. Rooms are old. Minibar are just soft drink and nothing much. I really disappointed with Royal Scotts. Not gonna stay there/ recommend it to anyone.

First visit to Singapore
We arrived early in the morning, after an all night flight from Dubai. Not expecting to be checked in, until 2:00 PM. The bellman suggested we check in. The desk clerk was most accommodating and she gave a room straight away. Our bags made it to the just as we did. Shortly thereafter, the maid showed to make up the extra bed for our son. The concierge helped us arrange a private tor that afternoon and also recommended some nearby restaurants. Both tour and recommendation were excellent. The bell staff remembered our names from the first day. Finally, the buffett was delicious. While it is not included in the basic room package, it can be added. It consisted of Chinese items, a European bread and meat session, as well as American specialties like freshly fried eggs, sausage, and beef hash. Oh, by thr way, everything in the minibar was FREE! Unfortunately, it was not a liquor and snack filled refrigerator, which most of us avoid because of the cost; however, it did contain water, juices, power drinks, green iced tea, and sodas (both regular and sugar free. A nice perk upon your return for the heat of a long walk.
