The facilities are nice and well-maintained. The rooms are comfortable, but for the price—twice that of similar hotels—they are basic. We were disappointed with the VIP service for Hotels.com, as we were assigned one of only three or four rooms in the entire hotel without a balcony.

Not to mention there are a number of small markets just steps away. The staff was super friendly and helpful!. I stayed here 4 fantastic days and not one bad experience. The Sofitel is a really good hotel within the Walled City. The staff are excellent; I cant recall everyone’s name (and I really wish that I could) but Miguel our butler was top notch. Everyone greets you with a smile and are ready to assist. We were upgraded to a high floor with nice room and great view. There was a slight mixup with the room but we were assisted every step of the way and provided with a free lunch while they rectified the situation and placed our luggage inside of the room. The breakfast at El jardin was good with some delicious coffee. Only two cons; one is after some time you can smell the sewage in the bathroom and the shower sprays water all over the bathroom floor. I would recommend this hotel over and over again. It was my first time in Cartagena and at this hotel, we had an amazing stay. The location was unbelievable. We felt very safe at all time. The hotel itself was remarkable. I’ve traveled a lot in my time and I have to say this is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever been to.. it was exactly what I was looking for. The staff was amazing, very welcoming and professional. Our rooms were beautiful!! I love that you could be out in the city walking around and come back to your sanctuary of a stunning, relaxing hotel! The restaurants at the hotel were outstanding!!!!!
