Relaxing and beautiful
We've loved the Kahala for years and years. But we also stay at other resorts. The pool could really use an upgrade, as could the service at the poolside grill. But apart from that (and the renovations going on which is a good thing) it was a perfect stay and we still love the place. Hoku's Restaurant is a stand-out - really world class food and wonderful staff.

Family friendly hotel
This was our third time staying at this hotel. Compared to the last two times the breakfast buffet seemed to have a considerably less food selection than before. Other than that the pool staff was very helpful and the staff in general was very accommodating.

What a place!!!
Truly amazing place. Great location (close to the action, but not THAT close), incredibly friendly staff, and a fantastic facility. The Dolphin Experience was really the cherry on top. It's a little on the pricy side, but not insanely so. IMHO, totally worth every penny.

Poor 2.0
Too Expensive for an unexpected Late check in
They took my money knowing that they didn't have 2 double beds available. On top of that check in was supposed to be at 3pm and I wasn't able to check in until 5pm.

Something changed?
We’ve stayed at the a kahala a few times and loved everything. However, this time things just fell a little short. Not sure if there is a new management or trying to tighten the budget but things just seemed a little “less than” we had experience before. The location and the people are wonderful.

Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location which was far enough from the craziness of Waikiki, but still close to everything in Honolulu including Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head and Waikiki itself. The only negative was slightly spotty food quality and service. Hotel staff were very attentive and extremely helpful.

Great stay, but bitter aftertaste with the valet
Overall, the hotel was great: clean, amazing service, and breathtaking views. There's even a Hertz within the hotel and you can return your car to the valet. Super convenient. The only bitter aftertaste is that I left my newly-bought sunglasses in the car and returned it to Hertz. I went back to Hertz the morning after to retrieve my sunglasses, except that it was nowhere to be found. Hertz person says he had checked the car (specifically the glasses compartment, which I had left it) and it wasn't there. I even called the hotel security if the valet person reported it lost. No success. Moral of the story: don't leave valuable things in your car when checking your car to the valet.

An Experience Worth Having
Amazing Resort! I am so glad we picked The Kahala Hotel & Resort for the last leg (4nights/5days) of our honeymoon Hawaii tour. From the arrival at the hotel, check-in, dining options, dolphin quest, pool, beach, to the check-out process, everything was immaculate. The staff was very professional yet personable and friendly. Upon arrival, our room wasn't ready and instead of withholding that info from us, they communicated with us and keep us in the loop till it was ready. The all star in my opinion was the inclusive breakfast package (don't skip out on it if you have the option of getting it). The breakfast buffet had amazing and fresh options and the food items never went stale. I would definitely stay at the Kahala again and again even if it means planning months ahead of time to be able to afford a lot more things at the hotel.

Do not stay. Do not support dolphin captivity.
Kahala is a beautiful place but the wild animals they have prisoned in tiny areas made me sick. The locals protest the captive dolphin facility and we were highly recommended to stay elsewhere, as to not support dolphin quest.
