Incredible hotel and location
We stayed at the Rubens at the Palace for 2 weeks (14 nights) from the end of June to early July for our honeymoon and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The hotel itself is really nice, clean, and comfortable, with an old-fashioned style decor. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with every interaction, and truly gave the impression that they wanted our stay at the hotel to be perfect. Our room was great as well! We booked a "classic double" room, which was a lot more spacious than I anticipated, especially staying in London. Queen size bed was really comfortable, and always clean. Bathroom was really nice, spacious, and always clean, with plenty of towels provided. They also allow you to set the temperature in your room to your liking which is always great. The location for this hotel could not have been more perfect - right next door to Buckingham, near great cafes and restaurants, and around the corner from a shopping center and a small grocery store. It's a really quick walk to Victoria station and bus stops, and it's also only about 15 minute walk down Birdcage Walk to get to the Thames River and Big Ben. It's also really close to St. James's Park near Buckingham which is a great place to spend time! Also at the hotel, they serve afternoon tea that is incredible!! This hotel became our home away from home for 2 weeks, and we cannot praise it enough. We absolutely will be back to stay at the Rubens!!

I have made quite a few business trips to London. I had the pleasure of staying at several of London’s best known high end hotels. Yet, here I am rating Rubens at the Palace above the excellent hotels (e.g. Savoy, Browns among them). What distinguishes Rubens from the best known high end hotels? The staff. This includes everyone; the concierge staff, the staff in their New York Bar, the staff in the Grill, the staff at the front desk, the housekeeping staff and the staff who man the front door. In addition to recommending restaurants, the concierge staff helped us interact with our airline who had lost a bag on our flight from JFK to Heathrow. They tempered our optimism at the “lies” we were hearing from the airline with years of experience. The staff in the New York Bar learned our names almost immediately and talked to us about our “bag problem”. The staff in the Grill assured us that we would not feel out of place despite my wearing the clothes I had flown in. The Front Desk people and the front door people similarly knew our names and would greet us by same when we were in the lobby or leaving/entering the hotel. A power outage in our room was swiftly rectified by calling housekeeping. At Rubens the front desk staff would say hello even when we were just walking to the front door to go for a walk. The front door door staff would inquire about where we were going and on our return would ask how our day day went. In short, it was like having friends rather than staff.

Traditional British Hospitality in Modern Victoria
We stayed 10 nights, just me and my teen daughter. We had stayed here a couple of years ago, and back in 2015, we had a better Mews view room on a higher floor and a great bathroom and tub. This time, we got a smaller feeling room, obstructed view and no tub. It was a king with Royal Mews view. The room was 111 and had recently been renovated, so that was lovely. The bed was fantastically comfy and the linens lux. Although we were offered a discounted breakfast (14 pounds pp), we opted not to do it this time since we knew the 11 hour time change was going to make us sleep late. We struggled to get on London time and as a result we stayed up all of most nights, enjoying the telly or catching up on the Harry Potter movies since we were set to go to Harry Potter World and had tickets to see the 2-part HP and the Cursed Child play (outrageously impressive and worth every bit of the nearly 400 pounds it cost). I spent a few nights in the downstairs bar for a drink or two. Two draft beers cost 24 pounds - yikes! Room service was expensive but good food. The neighborhood has recently added new, lively restaurants and bars and so it appeared that the once super-popular b bar downstairs, was never full and sometimes empty. Anthony the door man was great. Patrick at the front desk darling. The maids were very accommodating and cleaned our room late in the day. There is a freshly refurbished breakfast room, it looked nice but I didn't sample the food. Love Rubens.

Best hotel EVER!!!
I travel all over the world and so far the best hotel and customer service I have ever received was at The Rubens. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They treated my 8 year old son wonderfully. They greeted him by name and gave him a high five everytime we left the hotel or came back. We spent time in New York, Iceland, and London, and his favorite part of the whole trip was staying the this hotel. He loved The Rubens so much that when we got to our New York hotel he cried himself to sleep because he hated it and hated the room. The staff at The Rubens made a lasting impression on us both, and we will definitely be staying there again for another upcoming trip in a few months. The hotel was clean, great staff, amazing breakfast, fantastic location, and was everything we could hope for. It was very close to Victoria Station, bus tour stops, Wicked and Hamilton Broadway shows, lots of restaurants and much more! The night staff even played with my son when we had bought a remote control tank from Harrods. They even left nice little hand written notes for us in our room. Also, make sure you get the included breakfast. The breakfast was delicious every morning. Room service food was also very good. We will definitely ne back.

What a terrific hotel!
We had a lovely stay at The Rubens At The Palace. The location first of all was ideal for getting around London and the front desk staff, the concierge and the doorman couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The room was wonderful and perfect for my daughter and granddaughter and myself. It was large enough for three people and had very comfortable beds. The only flaw came when trying to order a pizza at midnight for my granddaughter whose jet lag left her hungry at a late hour. Since we had been told there was 24 hour room service available we didn't think there would be a problem ordering then. The woman in the kitchen who answered was obviously put out that we wanted to order at that late hour and said she would call back to confirm our order could even be filled. She didn't, so I called the kitchen again 3 times, and 3 times she picked up the phone, heard my voice, and hung up. Subsequently, I called the front desk for help and the young man there was terribly apologetic and took care of the order and in short order we had a pizza at our door. I would certainly highly recommend this hotel and plan to stay there again on my next trip. It is a great hotel and a fabulous value!
