We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The room and facilities are a bit tired but the views, service and onsen were flawless. Dinner and breakfast were very generous and we enjoyed them, though if you’re not into traditional Japanese flavours, you might struggle.

This property was lovely. We stayed in two balcony rooms with private balcony baths and it was brilliant to sit in the bath and watch the river go by. The food (we had dinner and breakfast) was great, particularly the dinner.
All the hotel staff were attentive and polite, helping us with anything we needed. Close walk to the nearby shrine and temple complex.

Charming ryokan. Onsen on top floor has separate bathing for men and women, lovely way to begin and end the day. The rooms come with half board, so a very special dinner and breakfast filled with Japanese delicacies. Location is convenient, it’s about a 15 minute walk from the tobu Nikko station but you can take the number 1 bus that leaves you a block or so away. Quite convenient to the attractions. Lovely mountainous view with brook from the window.

Stunning ryokan. We stayed for one night, and had kaiseki traditional meals for dinner and for breakfast, which we loved! The view from the windows of the nearby river and mountains is absolutely breathtaking. Sleeping on a futon on the floor took some getting used to, but it's part of the Ryokan experience! We also enjoyed the private hot spring bath in our room. Very close walk to the start of Tosho-gu shrine, which you definitely can't miss.

The location was very good - across the street from the shrines. Also, close to the bus stop if you want to take a bus to the waterfall/lake. The room had a beautiful river and hill view, but our room smelled a bit weird because of the enclosed private onsen. The dinner and breakfast were awesome!

Hotel experience was awesome. Located near the world heritage site and you can walk through them in a loop in less than 3 hours. Hotel provides a shuttle from the JR station (need to reserve in advance). We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel (excellent food). They take you to your individual dining room and served the set meals that way. Didn't like how checkout was at 10am. Wish it was at 11am and it would've made the logistic much easier

Perfect Ryokan Stay
Booked a private onsen for 2-nights and it was worth every penny. One of the main reasons I booked this hotel was because it was located right next to the river. My husband and I enjoyed the private onsen. It was the perfect temperature for the both of us. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The location was great. It was minutes away from the famous bridge and the bus stop was less than a minute away from the hotel. The room was big, and I was super comfortable with their futons. Breakfast and dinner is traditional Japanese-style so it may not be feasible to most people, but I enjoyed every bite!

Lovely experience
Stayed at this ryokan for 2 nights with the half board both days. The property is definitely feeling its age, but it certainly does not lack any charm. The room was plenty spacious and was provided with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The open air onsen that faces the river was so serene and peaceful, it was truly a special experience. The service level is outstanding and they take every effort to make guests feel valued and special. The food was artfully prepared and delicious. The hotel is perfectly located close to the amazing temples and shrines, as well as a short walk from the town. I recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a real ryokan experience.

I like the service and the guest room 411. The only improvement I would suggest is to improve the condition and cleanliness of the shower towel. Almost all of towel has mold smell.
