Been going to Oahu for a vacation almost every year for 15 years now. Wanted to budget a little this year so I picked this hotel. Likes: Hotel's location is great, just across International Market. Near shops, restaurants, bars, bank, ABC stores, etc. Couple blocks from Waikiki beach. Studio style (3 beds & a small kitchen (in a room). Staff are friendly, from checking in to service staff to checking out. Hotel has complimentary hot coffee & cold lemon/lime water in the morning and cold iced tea & water in the afternoon in the lobby. Beach towels & chairs are available for free to use. Free Bishop Museum ($25+) admission 1 adult per key room, kids free. Restaurant & bar next to the lobby. (Deals: $5 Mai Tai's & $5.99 breakfast). Dislikes: Parking is limited & at $25+ per night. Room needs to be updated/ upgraded. My reservation was for (2 adults & 3 kids) a king bed & 2 twins but was given 2 double & a twin. Didn't complain because we were tired from the flight & kids was just too excited. Then, AC wasn't cool enough that we had to ask for a fan (that broke the next day, so we were given another old fan) which we didn't mind because the room temp was ok. The bathtub's drainage was slow and got clogged the next evening at 8pm HI time (11pm PST). They fixed it right away (took them 30 mins). Lobby is small that it can get really congested & loud from the tourists that hangs out there. They have a small swimming pool that we didn't use.

Management never addressed nothing
room was very dirty and bad musty smell wife had breathin issues so asked for better room, first shown a couple smaller rooms we could take but were not any better and not enough room, then promised a upgraded room higher up and told to check out three days later and they check us back into this better room. we checked out at 10 a.m. and at 11 checked and the front desk told us the people in the room we were to move to had checked out at 11 and in a few hours we could move in there. wasted whole day waiting at hotel and then they tried to move us to a different than promised. we said that wasn' right. manager then talk to me by phone and said because i booked through expedia we weren' entitled to this room,i replied we were on their alister program so even if they wouldn' honor expedias upgrade we still qualify ,then supervisor said oh the people in room had extended their stay i told her someone is lying as front desk had checked and told us they had checked out at 11 that morning, then i said just give us our old room back, but they had already moved someone else into it so we ended up another musty room right next to old one. sheets were not changed in the 26 days we stayed there, room was never properly cleaned with dirt on floor in front of stove that was there entire stay. bed was just thrown cover over top never properly made, glasses and coffee cups were changed three times total, coffee was left maybe half the time, soap and shampoo never added . nothing as promoted!!

Worst room I've seen in 25 years of travel.
We had earned two free nights from previous purchases from Hotels.com and we needed two nights in Honolulu so after much searching my wife booked this hotel. The primary reasons for this location was the proximity to Waikiki and free parking. We checked into this hotel on Friday afternoon. We were driving a pickup truck that would not comfortably fit downstairs in the parking area, but the Bellman did a fantastic job of accomodating us in finding a place to park that would work. High kudos to this gentleman. Everything was downhill from their. Our room was on a higher floor we reached by down the hallway to an outside door leading to a short balcony with a utility closet and our room. We walked in and found a very small area with a kingsize bed that took up 70% of the living area. This was called a suite so it had a small stove, small refrigerator and microwave. There was only one piece of furniture that the TV sat upon and some drawers inside that hutch. The far side of the room was a large sliding glass door going out to a very small balcony. The rubber seal was so old wind whistled noisily throughout the night keeping my wife awake. The shower and toilet were in a small room with a sliding wood door-the shower wasn't much larger than we had on a cruise ship. The sink in the main room was for both dishes and personal hygiene. We went back to the check in are and talked with the night manager. They did not accomodate our complaints. I dnt hv rm to dscrb the espe

Very good 8.0
Close to the beach, decent pool, deceptive pricing
The hotel itself was pretty good, about what you'd expect for the price. The bathroom and kitchenette were on the smaller size, but fine for a week or two. Nice pool and lobby/communal hotel areas My biggest issue was with the "resort fee". We were asked to provide a credit card upon check-in, for a $50 deposit, but we were not told they'd be taking the resort fee from this card daily, so I assumed we'd pay it at checkout. When I figure this out (as I had maxed out the card, not knowing they'd been taking money), I was offered no apology, and no explanation other than we should have been told at check-in. Also the resort fee is compulsory (so why not just include it in the advertised price?) and is supposed to cover things like the pool, housekeeping (which we only got 4/7 days - as we weren't out of the room before 9am, when they wanted to clean, but they wouldn't come later), wifi, which was extremely unreliable, and a handful of other amenities. Until the resort fee issue, I would have probably just been ok with everything else, and recommended this as a good value hotel. Be aware of this resort fee issues, and what you're exactly getting for that, and if you're looking for somewhere reasonably priced, take your chances.

Money spent better else where, old and expensive
At check in they told us our room wouldn’t be ready for another two hours and to come back...didn’t offer luggage storage. Hotel is very dated, carpet old, dirty and not vacuumed. Pictures of beds make you think your getting a nice bed but they are old spring style...squeaky and bouncy. Old dirty caulking in bathroom, lack of hot water at times. here is no air control so you get what cool air they give you. Railings on porches make you feel like they will give away. Girl checking us in didn’t care how we felt and had the attitude of oh well. The restaurant offered a special, so yourself a favor and eat somewhere else. Eggs and toast were cold, sausage tasted weird so we couldn’t eat it and the waitress was very rude. We had to pay $28 for amenities we didn’t use (pool that’s only open till 8, pool towels, WiFi (in a time of unlimited data), and coffee in lobby). Then we also had to pay $28 a night to park in a garage that has little maneuver space and your lucky to get a spot. We wound up spending $200 a night for a place I would say is a half step up from a motel 6. I would not recommend this place and would not stay there again.
