Great experience; would stay again !
I stayed in a 6-beds female dorm for 3 nights and I loved the place. The rooms are clean. The mixed bathrooms have individual showers with locked doors and a common sink area. Cleaning is done several times a day so the bathrooms as super clean as well and usually not crowded. Breakfast is not much but it was enough for me. They have bagels with different spreads. They also have fruits and oatmeal; along with coffee and tea. The hostel itself is nice, I loved the colorful style with lots of plants, but it is kind of a party place so it might get loud, especially in the evenings or at night. The rooms as well as the main entrance are locked via electronic key to ensure safety. Rooms have lockers too (you will need a big lock like the ones used in high school, you can also purchase one at the reception) The location is great, in the Gaslamp area with lots of restaurants/eateries/supermarkets and shopping options, close to public transportation and short ride to the airport. The hostel offers a lot of activities such as trips to Tijuana or free shuttles to La Jolla. They also organize outings in the area or getting togethers at the hostel. Only cons would be that the towels are really tiny but it is no big deal for only a few days. Individual hangers for each bed would be good too.

Getting the Little Things Right
I read all the excellent reviews, but I was still impressed by the hostel when I got there. It was the little things: the selection of teas, the evening games if you wanted to play, the staff cheerily printing something for me. That's the kind of thing that makes you happy in a hostel, a hotel, or a home. Please keep doing what you're doing!

Excellent place
This was a very clean place. With the locked access to the front door as well as my room, I felt very safe here. I booked a dorm-style room. The bed was fairly comfortable but made quite a bit of noise, both with squeaking whenever someone rolled over as well as a crunching sound from the mattress cover. Room had a locker but wasn't large enough for my carry-on size bag. It did, however, have an outlet inside if safety is a concern for you. Be aware there are two flights of stairs to the lobby and another flight up to some of the bedrooms. Breakfast was very basic with bagels and fruit. I didn't take advantage but they do provide a lot of activities for guests. Overall, nice place!

First Time "Hosteler"
This was my first time staying at a hostel. It was different than a hotel for sure. However, I would do it again if I needed a budget travel option.

Good for hostelers, or anyone cutting corners
Certainly doable if you're looking for a hostel. Its location in the heart of downtown is great if that's why you're looking here, but it also means loud noises til very late at night. Six bunks to a room means more than likely snoring is going to be an issue in addition to outside noise. The staff were nice enough, and the bathrooms were surprisingly kempt. Their bath towels were small and very thin, though. I guess you get what you pay for. No problems at check in/out.

Great find.
Fantastic location. Well organized. Stayed in a room with 3 bunks. Bunks are very comfortable. Sheets are clean. You have to make your own bed but so what. Free earplugs. Individual light, usb plug, shelf and privacy wall in each bunk. Shared bath but very clean. And you could not find a better neighborhood.

Convenient budget-friendly option
I needed a budget-friendly place to stay during a short work trip to San Diego, and this place was close to perfect. Excellent location, friendly staff, very comfortable bed, good attention to keeping the common areas clean, secure entrance, and enough bathroom facilities so that I never had to wait to use them.

Clean, central location, friendly stuff. I didn't like the all gender bathrooms. I need some female privacy.
