The Good and Bad
Let me start of by saying this is a small hotel compared to the megaplexes that loom over the beaches of Cancun. However, an overall nice hotel. It’s a little older and the building shows. It is a very clean hotel, lobby, bathrooms, rooms, restaurants.  The pool area has two levels, both pools are clean, and are kept clean. I mostly stayed on the upper deck pool, as it was mostly vacant, which was nice. However, that means that the bartenders walking around the pool, didn’t it make over there quite often. The drinks are good.  Check in was smooth, you have the opportunity to check in online before you arrive at the hotel. Reception was phenomenal, excellent service, always willing to assist. I had some issues with the safe and the hot water, and they were quick to get someone to assist me, and maintenance followed up right away. The hot water was mainly that I didn’t know how to work the lever.  I was not very happy that I was accosted by concierge right away, and this is were my overall experience was affected. The gentleman who assisted me made it known right away that I would not be made privy or acesss to some of the exclusive “members only privilege”. They asked who I booked with and I booked with Hotels.com. Guest are differentiated by red and blacks bands, the red ones being the lesser ones. The black bands have access to an exclusive bar by the pool lounge area. This small experience put somewhat of a damper because your left feeling like a second class citizen.

The beach in the resort is simply amazing. One of the main reasons this is also appealing is because it is one of the smaller resorts, so not much walking needs to done to get to the beach from the actual rooms. Speaking of rooms, the room I was in (309), there was constantly an issue with the AC leaking. We called maintenance, but they've only cleaned it and advised us to keep a towel to keep the area dry. We were hoping it would get resolved, but I guess not. The door to the patio/balcony was also hard to open. Upon opening the door as well, the foul smell that came from the somewhere in the hotel, is unescapable. So if you get this room, don't expect to have a lovely sit down outside. Other than that, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, I'd give this hotel a 6.5/10

The hotel needed a lot of restoration like painting and general maintenance. For the price, I was expecting the place to be in better condition. The breakfast opened at 7:00AM, which is inconvenient for people that wake up early or have early flights. We were not allowed to enter the beach until 8:00AM. There was a women that kept asking where we were going and what we were doing. I felt constantly controlled and not allowed to relax.

The check-in process took longer than expected. I came to check-in at 12am but received room at around 3:30pm (after asking the receptionist the 2nd time). I asked them the first time, but they said the room will be ready soon and will notice me, but I would not receive the room anytime soon if I didn’t ask the 2nd time. The plus point about this hotel & resort here is allowing early check-in people can use the hotel’s benefits such as food, drinks, etc. I booked a room for 3, but the room had only amenities for 2. Additionally, the pillow, sheets, and window curtains had inappropriate smells. The bathroom is big, and it was good. Dining experience: 2 out of 5 - Zango (buffet): a bunch of options and pretty good. The waiters and waitresses were nice. Unfortunately, the food kinda repeated the most over days. A few of them were either too salty of sour. - Seasons: The first experience was great. My family enjoyed the meals and service (thank to Pedro). On the 2nd attempt, the waiter had an ice-cold face till we ended the dining experience. The food was horrible in term of flavor and cook. Raw Steak, salty mussels, an - Frattini: Great Italian-Mexican cuisine. The food and service were absolutely amazing. - Gaijin: Similar to Hibachi style, but the chef failed his performance.
