"We were 2 pensioners staying to watch our young grandchildren skiing. The 1 bedroom self service apartment was adequate, however 1) it was directly above a bar 2) we wished and asked for a double bed but had singles 3) the outlook was to an inner rectangle but we expected to be able to look out to the slopes - we had booked and paid months in advance!"

"The location is excellent, just a very short walk to the ski lift, which makes it extremely convenient for families. The room was clean and functional, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The childcare service appears to be excellent, although we did not use it as our children preferred to stay with us. The only downside for us was the limited food selection, which could be improved."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Tignes

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Tignes is during May, September, and October, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For a thorough exploration of the area's key historical landmarks and cultural attractions, a stay of at least 4 to 5 days is recommended. During your visit, you can experience the charming small-town atmosphere, enjoy thrilling adventures like biking, and take in the stunning glaciers and mountainous landscapes—all while staying on a budget. This timing not only offers great value for money, but it also allows you to make the most of Tignes' rich history and vibrant culture.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Tignes, begin by exploring the Deals or Last-Minute Deals sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, helping you seize opportunities to save. Additionally, Smart Shopping is a useful comparison tool available in the app that allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to see the best options. With these features, you can be among the first to know if prices drop or rooms become available for your spontaneous getaway.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on various factors such as the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates may help you save on your stay in a Tignes hotel. For those seeking a distinctive experience, boutique hotels often provide a more personalised touch and can sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher side, we’ll recommend alternative dates that could be more affordable, helping you find the best possible deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels situated near the city centre usually tend to be pricier, but with Tignes's excellent public transport links, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well connected. For those eager to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often exceptional value for money to be found.
