This was our second stay at the River Hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean rooms and property. Prime location for many activities in Chicago, as one can walk virtually everywhere. Many restaurants in the area in addition to attractions. A wonderful hotel.

I would characterize this hotel as a basic/budget hotel. Rooms are small and clean, but basic. Staff is lovely. We had no major issues, and I’d say it’s a great value for the price if you are looking for a well-placed hotel at a budget price. We probably would not stay again as that’s not generally what we’re looking for when we travel, but I would totally recommend to someone looking for that specific type of hotel in a great location

Does the job. There for work. Rooms are small, fine for sleeping in but not much else. Clean. Higher floor - be aware that there is usually some type of protest in the morning on the street, but done by 8am or so. Walls are a little thin. Free water on the floor, but not cold and no mini-fridge to keep anything in. great location. Staff are helpful. Gym is small.
