6/10 Good

Valets were slow, refrigerator was broken, room was very small. Would not recommend

8/10 Very good

Old, small room, but good location
Good location for one of Chicago's oldest hotels. Room was very small, but bed was comfortable. It was a Queen size, but one of the smallest queen mattress I have seen. Room was outdated. The carpet had a stain. Small bathroom, but everything worked. Room appeared clean except for carpet. Long line and wait to check in. No maid service and bar/restaurant not open.

Just right
Room very comfortable, as always. Cool, clean, cozy. Just right for a quick stay, no frills required. Except, please provide soap for both sink and baths for heavens sake, as well as some cups. Breakfast or a small snack shop would be a terrific addition - miss this from the old days. Great location, great deal.

Never Again
Check in felt militarized, not welcoming. No information provided other than a key and WiFi password upon check in - what about beds, towels, room service, taxi, trains, things to do, etc? Standard stuff guests should know about how the hotel works were not told. Room carpet had giant stains by the bed. Giant room contains no other furniture than a bed and a single chair. Mini fridge is lukewarm, no microwave. No door sign for service or do not disturb. The only redeeming quality about this hotel is its location. I have stayed in better for less in Chicago near the red and grant park. I won’t be coming back to this hotel.

Location is good. Overpriced!
Room was tiny for price. Hotel rooms are dated.

2/10 Poor

Great location. Horrible hotel.
The rudest wait staff and the most horrible service ever at a hotel of this stature. The staff seemed miserable. Not welcoming at the front desk. Never wanting to help. We’d basically had to beg for a clean room or for towels.

Great location in Chicago
Great location. Hotel has small rooms but didn't matter to us as we were out sightseeing. Hotel room was clean and bed comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would absolutely stay there again.

2/10 Poor

Shouldn't have to beg for towels each day.
I was excited to stay at the Allerton with its history and location on the Avenue and rather close to my office. However that excitement disappeared quickly once I arrived. Housekeeping and Maintenance is only available between 9am-4:30pm. We had to call EVERY DAY to get more towels but only during that time. By the time we checked in at 4 or later, it is too late to know anything is missing from room - towels, pillows or such. You are then stuck until 9am the next day. UNEXCEPTABLE!! No washrags available since housekeeping forgot to drop them off. We were always chasing the clock to call in what we need and hope they did it correctly or else we were out of luck. Stop advertising a restaurant that no longer exists in the hotel. Very disappointing and won't recommend to any of the office staff to stay at. This isn't just a post-pandemic staffing issue. This is a poor management issue.
