It was a basic room with amenities in a good location and competitive prices. Ron was helpful in giving us a half day rate since our flight was in the evening. Now for the bad, upon checking in we were told there is a cleaning fee (not included in the total price) of over 3 figures for one night. I've booked many hotels on here and never once was I charged a separate cleaning fee., let alone be held ransom at check in. No email no notice until check in (which was at midnight for us). They claim they have an agreement with hotel.com and other 3rd party vendors. If this is try shame on all of you, being deceptive and not mentioning it anywhere until check in. (Note: this was the Castle of Waikiki Grand, not the Waikiki Grand hotel.) Because of this ridiculousness I will not recommend Castle ever and because hotel.com even allows for this, I will no longer be using them.

The room itself was old and had a lot of issues, - the mini fridge, the tv, the wifi did not work. I got help getting the wifi but it is clearly a very old hotel. I was told the entire building had some new tv issue where it would only work with a new Smart Tv, but I am not really sure that is true. The bed was very comfortable and the room was air conditioned. The view was spectacular though!

Door had to be shut hard in order for it to lock. Air conditioner stopped working right. Our air conditioner started acting up the second week of our stay and still was not replaced.Was given 3 small bath mats to soak up water which flooded a good portion of the room… the water flooded under the bed. Maintenance stated that our air conditioner needed to be replaced and called ours dead. It never was replaced… the tubing to pull air in fell out of the side of the building… they need to advertise self service such as throwing out own trash, getting sheets changed not daily nor towels

Internet service was aweful and the small table was missing the glass in the middle & only 1 chair, but the staff were friendly & accomodating as they could be since these rooms are privately owned. We paid extra but got less!!!
