Virgin Hotel New Orleans WON-DER-FUL
We arrived at the Virgin Hotel New Orleans in the middle of the night and was greeted by the night consigliere with a big smile and a warm greeting. He checked us in swiftly and directed us to our room. Called “Chambers” by Virgin, our Chamber was beautifully eclectically appointed and extremely clean. We took hot showers and straight to bed. There for only one night, as we left our chamber to check-out, we were greeted warmly by every hotel staffer we passed. The Bell men were exceptional, taking our luggage to the car, loading it in, and assisting both my husband and I with our doors. When I return to NOLA (and I will return) I already know I’m staying at the Virgin Hotel New Orleans!

Horrible Experience
I just finished staying at the Virgin Hotel in New Orleans. Horrible experience! Here is how it is going: For starters, the clerk misdirected to the wrong room. After 3 attempts with re-doing the key card, an engineer opened the door only to find the room was already occupied! After getting placed in another room, I was promised that someone would follow up. It never happened!! Now, I come back to my room to discover that housekeeping threw my laundry away! I am sorry I am already booked at Virgin for Christmas. I will make sure not to bring any gifts that the hotel could possibly throw away! This is entirely unacceptable!! Worse yet, they don't seem to care and made no attempt to remedy either situation. And entirely engaged over the situation and the lack of empathy. It also defies business sense that you would victimize of your hotel when you consider the economics of this situation. You’d be much wiser to pull 40 friggin dollars out of it till given. I spent $1000 for my three day stay. Trust me I’m spreading the word. I now have to avail myself of my skill set that has involved as a result of being a trial lawyer for 37 years. I guarantee Virgin Hotel NOLA has not heard the last of us. I would say good day, but that would be facetious. James Patrick 650.333.0469

Check-in Time Not Guaranteed?
We were in town for the Eras tour and it was painful how under-prepared this hotel was. I hate to even leave a bad review because I am always a fan of Virgin when traveling and cannot recommend their airline & cruise line enough. This was my first stay at one of their hotels and while the property is clean and beautiful, our experience was so bad. My room was not ready by the 3pm check-in time. We ended up having to ask for our luggage and the front desk team offered for us to get ready for the concert in the public restroom. When we were leaving for the show at 6:15pm, we were told our room was finally available. We weren't even offered a comp drink or meal for the huge inconvenience. I think all of the non-hotel guests attending the Taylor Swift rooftop party were better cared for than the hotel guests. I will note that the staff at the lobby-level bar were wonderful.

Make sure to not get the rooms without daylight
Beware that there are a select number of rooms on every floor that do not have natural light, just a deep, narrow light well outside a window. No sense of time of day within these rooms. Another word of caution: a quarter of the seating on the rooftop requires payment, and because these sofas are so expensive ($250), they are mostly unoccupied. Which is frustrating when all the “free” seating is occupied. Elevator stopped 6” higher than the level of the floor and we had to push open the door manually. When we arrived for check in a staff member rushed in the front door ahead of us and did not hold open the door. Weird start. Lobby is too small and congested during check in and check out. We ended up going to the restaurants and bars of two hotels one block away instead of using the same facilities at the Virgin.

8/10 Very good

5-stars (-1 for a disrespectful front desk person)
We have stayed in many other hotels in New Orleans and the Virgin Hotel is now our new favorite. It was remarkably quiet on the hallway and in our room, despite being full due to a Taylor Swift concert. The property is so delightfully decorated and truly a mix of whimsical and modern. Great artwork, amazing lounges/bars. The shower and bed were fantastic and the room was impeccably clean. The only disappointment was the attitude of the front desk staff when calling for anything. We got an alert that our car alarm (parked for $55 valet per net) was going off - three times, yet when we called to ask them to look into it the person at the desk said "I don't have time for this". Speaking to the valet directly resolved the issue. We also placed another call to ask about the menu at the restaurant was put on hold for nearly 10 minutes, only to then be told they don't have openings that night. The positive was staff included a nice check-in experience (with Ryan) and the valet (Kahlil) was professional. The housecleaning staff and maintenance were both kind and responsive over our 2 day stay. We will definitely return, but would hope someone checks the attitude of their self-absorbed front-desk person who needs to remember what it is to work in the service industry (having done it myself many years ago).
