We loved the hotel. I was a wonderful location for access to all the activity. The rooms were comfortable, clean and updated. They offered a very generous complimentary breakfast. The staff was very helpful arranging our departure.

Best Hotel in Venice
Don’t normally review hotels but this one was perfect, clean, tidy and modern. Staff were amazing and the breakfast was super each morning. The location was unreal 30 seconds your at St Marks and right in the middle of everything you couldn’t fault. If I had to pick 1 fault it was the air con. The heat was intense and the aircon was rubbish and each night the heat was horrible In the room. Bits a new refurbished hotel and gave them a by ball. Thanks guys for our stay it was one of the best trips ever.

Very close to the nice San Marco activities. Great buffet breakfast. And very quiet. We enjoyed our night tremendously. Would return.

Wonderful location to really experience Venice
The beds were very firm and so were pillows. The windows are single pane and do not block out sound. Was not terribly comfortable and was very loud. Very close to San Marco square so busy area of Venice, lots of small echoey streets, restaurants, and church bells. The decor was nice with brocade fabric wall covering that matches bedding and beautiful Venetian glass light fixtures. Shower was small but good water pressure. Had a bidet. The room was spotlessly clean and staff were very nice. The location is amazing. Just feet from the square so very convenient to get to from water bus with luggage. Safe area to walk. Free breakfast is European style and nice. Eggs, fruit salad, meats and cheeses, croissants and rolls, fresh made pastry, cereals. Also good juice and a self-serve coffee machine where you can made cappuccinos, lattes etc. This is a very old historic building and is a wonderful place to really experience Venice unless you are looking for something modern and cushy and silent.

2/10 Poor

Small uncomfortable rooms with bad plumbing
The staff was unfriendly. The rooms were exceptionally small. The hotel was very outdated. The shower did not drain and overflowed into the room soaking our clothes. Staff took a long time to get us towels to try to mitigate the mess.

Excellent location good value for money
Location beside San Marco square is excellent! And for all the attractions, Doge's palace, Rialto bridge etc. Decor of the hotel was lovely and Venetian. Good variety for breakfast. Overall good location for a great price !

8/10 Very Good

The hotel was a cracking base from which to explore Venice, situated right next to St Marks square but not so as you'd notice as it was very calm and peaceful. As with most buildings in Venice mod cons were not high on the agenda but it was quaint and more than adequate.

Not a bad hotel.
I've stayed at worse places. For the money, it's not horrible, at least it's in a fantastic location. It can be a little loud in the morning. Staff at the front desk are polite, multilingual and professional. Bring your own shampoo and shower gel as they are quite cheap in this area (you'll maybe get either one shampoo OR one shower gel and you'll run out after one shower, trust me).

2/10 Poor

Bait and Switch
I can't tell what Best Western Albergo San Marco was like because when I got there to check in we were shunted to the "annex" hotel at Ambassador Tre Rose, which was adequate but not great. The bathroom was nice and clean and the wifi was pretty good, but the room was cramped and shabby. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were heavy and hard and the blanket was very pilled and kind of scuzzy looking. There was NO service at the reception desk, which was OK because the Best Western was only a few doors away, and the breakfast at Best Western was good. It was just a bit disconcerting to be shunted to a hotel different from the one I had reserved after extensive research, and it was nit up to the standard i have come to expext at a Beat Western. The best thing I can say about the Tre Rose is that the location was good, although the location of the Best Western was still a bit better.

Awesome location. I have visited Venice a handfull of times. The room was a small and a little dingy but that seems to be sort of par for the course in Venice. We had the bad luck of getting a room directly over a bar which was really noisy on the weekend. Try and avoid this area, not sure what the other rooms were like for noise.

Horrible Experience!
This was the WORST part of my Italian trip. This hotel is old, tiny, and not well kept. First of all they tried to stick us in room 406, it's like being in a doll house. My husband and I felt claustrophobic so my in-laws were kind enough to switch with us. I asked for a different room downstairs and was told NO. The showers are so tiny. I'm a size 2 and I barley fit in the showers. Our room was on the street side so it was VERY VERY loud till really late at night and first thing at like 6am. People were so loud outside and the noise just carried. The breakfast was HORRIBLE. So bad in fact that we just refused to eat it. This is the type of room and experience I received when I was traveling in my early 20's and staying at hotels that cost $30 euro a night. I expected a lot better for the price we paid. I hated every minute of our stay at this terrible place.
