King Spa deluxe - room for improvement!
Check-in great.Efficient front desk attendant. Large lobby area welcoming.Concierge prompt/accomodating.King deluxe Spa harbour view room on level 9. view was fantastic!king size bed was amazing.Ordered lavender scented pillow from the "pillow menu"a great touch. Bathroom with large spa and walk-in shower well equipt ,plenty of towels, fantastic lighting-large vanity area.two tvs-one facing the sofa-one to the bed.2 Lighting control panels one located at entrance of room the other next to bed. Room was overall very comfortable.However.... we had intially been allocated a room on the 5th floor, this unfortunately was in no way up to standard in terms of cleanliness. Dust, smugdes on all silver fixtures, bathroom cleanliness was unexceptable poor BR design. supervisor at the time however-very professional, apologetic-genuinely interested in fixing the problem. We received an upgrade to the9th floor as compensation.certainly an improvement, still could be better!Received15%discount for the inconvenience. Polishing silver fixtures, bathroom vanity, window ledges and all other surface areas would really help!No minibar??key re-issued 4 times due to suddenly not working.pool and jacuzi exellent. fantastic buffet range with hot/cold food . Buffet area lacks flow- congested at times. Smudges on elevator walls/room doors out of place for a 5star. I would stay again however would upgrade to club room hoping to get more of a personalised stay with the added touches?

Mixed about this particular hotel
wonderful hotel minus the bed (toooooo soft). We had club lounge access and this was a lot less good than previous experiences at club lounges elsewhere. While the staff is TERRIFIC, they are eager to help though not quite effective at it. We asked to reserve the airport SHUTTLE for us, which they said they did, but then when we were leaving for the airport, the concierge did not see our reservation and found a TAXI reservation instead. And yet, we had insisted we were looking for the SHUTTLE at the club lounge, both at checkin and at breakfast the next morning.. Ultimately, all was well, the concierge ordered a taxi and they offered it to us for free which was very nice. So they did repair their mistake, but it was kind of odd..

Good 6.0
The staff there need to be more professional and know their hotel's standard rules, their level of the service was less than other 5 star hotel. I requested for King bed room and we've got 2 double bed room, I realized we don't have complimentary water bottles so I called and asked a person, she said "I don't think we offer free drinking water but you can buy a bottle of water it cost $10. Ridiculous! I hanged up the phone, called Housekeeping and another lady said she can send one up if I want. What is this? Then we only had 1 dental kit even though we are 2 people staying, so I had to call house keeping again, and a man brought the kit and 2 more water bottles. I had some stains on my duvet sheets... I couldn't bother to do anymore... Good location, tasty food but I won't go back there.

The hotel and rooms look great after the refurbishment - a very grown-up looking hotel indeed! Staff and service are simply fantastic. But, a couple of negatives. After a long drive down, we were keen to have dinner in the hotel. Sadly, the Chameleon Restaurant has changed its menu - choices looked "fussy," and nothing I could find that I liked. So, we went around to the hotel's bistro -- you would think you could find stuff like a curry, pasta, fish and chips, etc.....nope. But, they very graciously made my husband a fish and chips. Two room issues: the mattress was far too soft for me, and the bathroom now has a pane of glass between the huge shower and the room itself. It looks fantastic during the day, but the shade which can be dropped is only translucent, so there is considerable light coming through. Can't turn on the light without disturbing a sleeping partner, and also, we tend to use the bathroom light as a nighlight, so that wasn't possible. Otherwise, simply lovely.

Exceptional 10.0
Loved our stay at the InterContinental Wellington
My husband and I have stayed at the InterContinental Wellington on a few occasions now and probably wouldn't stay anywhere else. We always feel welcomed by the staff, whether it be at the reception desk, in the bar/restaurant or anywhere else in the hotel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable including a nice firm bed and a choice of firm pillow if required. We originally chose this hotel because of its proximity to the ferry terminal but it is also very central so we can walk to many shops, cinemas, restaurants etc. It is also very close to the cable car entrance. We stayed in a Club Guestroom so we had access to the Club Lounge which was definitely worth paying the extra for. On the day we arrived, we unpacked and went up to the Club Lounge where we were treated to an amazing high tea whilst we sat at a window with a lovely view. We definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who would like a relaxing stay in Wellington.
