Great location and lovely staff.
We wanted to stay somewhere affordable and close to central Wellington and weren't disappointed. The room we were first booked into (604) was not that lovely. The bed was really comfortable but the curtains had mould on them and the net curtains were torn. The bathroom tile grout was in need of repair and the shower sealant and grout looked dirty. The shower door was missing and in it's place they'd hung up a shower curtain (which was also mouldy). After the first night (we were booked to stay 3 nights) I spoke to the lady on the front desk about the bathroom and asked if it would be possible if we could change rooms. She was lovely and arranged for the manager (Luke) to show us another room. He came and took me to see one - which was not actually much better than the first but then he showed me another one, that was significantly better, and we were all moved in within the hour. Nothing was a bother and he was really apologetic and said they are in the process of renovating rooms and had not yet done the one we had been first allocated. We would definitely choose to stay there again.

Awful but at least the management recognized it.
We made and paid for a non-refundable booking for 24 to 28 December 2017 through Wotif. We were unaware the hotel did not have air conditioning as that wasn't displayed on the site. When we got in on 24 December we discovered that. There was a fan in the room which we deployed as it was so hot. It was massively noisy. I had ear plugs with me so managed to cut some of the noise out. It wasn't until the next morning, Christmas Day we discovered the complimentary ear plugs in each of the bedside cabinets. That would suggest the hotel is aware of how dreadfully noisy the fans are. Another thing not advertised on any site or even in room. After a fitful night's sleep we went down to our Christmas Day breakfast, arriving at 9.35am. The hotels breakfast time is advertised to 10am. When we went to the counter we were met with "We are closing soon" from the woman there in a tone which clearly conveyed we were not welcome. We expressed our shock and insisted on being allowed to have breakfast as there was plenty of time.However when we went to the food area it had only scraps left. That was the final straw. We checked out. The very lovely receptionist was mortified when we told her what had happened and offered a larger room with more fans. That would be more noise and we were too unhappy with what happened to change our minds. We are pleased that when advised of our issues we were given a refund for the further three nights we had paid. They didnt have to so it was appreciated.

Hotel close to Willis St
Check in was confusing as far as car parking as the hotel car park has narrow parks & are really only suitable for smaller cars. When one of our party elected to park in Wilson's car park & asked if they required anything to display on the car the desk clerk answered in the negative. On parking it was discovered that parking was limited to 12 hrs. I approached the desk & when I mentioned this I was asked if the park was required for 24 hrs. Surely if you are checking in for the night you need a park for more than 12 hrs. Finally given a ticket to display. Hand towel was on a rack over the toilet some way from the hand basin, there is room on the wall by the hand basin for a towel rack to be installed. There was a long wait for dinner & when it arrived the meat was dry & veggies cold, we asked a couple of times how far away it was. Manager did give us a discount but that spoiled our night. Breakfast was even worse, little variety for the buffet & we had to wait for bacon & scrambled eggs to be produced. There were no cups for tea or coffee only paper cups. We have stayed at other hotels in Wellington for a cheaper rate that includes breakfast & has a bigger variety of food on the menu. Was sometimes difficult to understand staff due to their accents.

Great location that’s about it.
This hotel is extremely convenient but be warned it does not have air conditioning so you will want to open the window and let in all the sounds of the city.they do provide ear plugs ! The toilet in the bathroom had water running constantly and the fan was thick with dust. The soap from the last guest was still in the shower ( along with a fresh wrapped piece) and also some hair. Initially the room looked good but then we noticed holes in the bed linen. The room itself was a bit disappointing as I had booked months before expecting a Queen and single bed but it was just two small ones. The rate as well... through wotif I expected a good deal but on arrival could have saved $50. On check in I asked about breakfast and was told just show up, later ( in time) I found you did need to pre book to get the deal. Food in the bistro was slow. The staff were inadequately trained, handed food to us rather than placing it on the table, apologised for the delay saying they were busy but only 4 tables were occupied. Ice cream had clearly defrosted and refrozen. We pointed this out but we’re still charged in full. This hotel has lots of potential, maybe we stayed at a bad time? We had late checkout agreed but when we returned to our room had been locked out. No apology when we queried this, although they did reactivity one key for us. I left a list for maintenance so hopefully your stay will be better, it could be great !

We were disgusted when we first got to the hotel as they forced us to pay $26.00 for parking in their hotel when we just paid for our room. I thought it was a theft and expressed my view the man at the counter then became rude and belligerent and said well if you don;t like it put your car on the road or get another hotel we did not have enough funds to get another hotel and that $26 dollars was our taxi fare to the game so it meant we had to walk 2,5 kilometers. I will never stay in that place again and hope that is the future I am aware of any additional costs as we budget for them. we stay in hotels all over the world, I have never come across this before and in fact will never pay to stay at a hotel that charges to park at its own premises how ever Expedia was excellent to deal with and your staff was great. we will go through Expedia again as your service was tops.
