Some of the best things to do in Chalong Bay are associated with water sports and all things nautical. Located on the east-central side of Phuket, it's a colourful combination of a port, residential area and shopping hub. Many depart from the pier to explore many surrounding islands, especially Coral Island for its diving and snorkelling opportunities.

Chalong also has lots of interesting land-based things to do, like golf, go-karting, wall climbing as well as shooting and paintball. Sightseeing includes the striking hilltop Big Buddha and the ornate Wat Chalong. Whether you want to enjoy island-hopping or fun sports, our guide to things to do in Chalong Bay has got you covered.

The Big Buddha is one of Phuket's most important and revered landmarks. Standing at 45 metres high, the gigantic image sits on top of the Nakkerd Hills, between Chalong and Kata. During your visit, you can enjoy panoramic views of the island – think sweeping vistas of Phuket Town, Kata, Karon, and Chalong Bay. The atmosphere is very peaceful, with sounds of tinkling bells decorating the compound, along with soft dharma music.
