"Been going to Deans Place for years on our annual Glyndebourne visit. It’s just a great country house hotel in a beautiful village in the middle of the S Downs national park. It’s a bit tatty at the edges, the food is predictable and chic it isn’t. We just love it as it is and pray that it does not get boutiqued… for us 5 star"

"My review James BREEN itwas quite welcoming the staff were interacting and giving the children fruit and just being friendly. The rooms were quite nice and clean didn’t didn’t even see a bit of dusk, and the other rooms near us were quite as a mouse. And me and my children and never like the showers but they are not just good showers but they are not just good they are the best hotel shower I’ve ever seen !!! There was soap and other stuff that are basic nurseries that you will need in life to...

. The radiator in the children’s bedroom didn’t work though. There were no doors on the bedrooms we presume to save on space but it meant us watching the TV kept the children awake in the evenings. Good location near the beach. Free parking is probably a bit misleading as there is no allocated parking it is just free on the road, IF you can find a space. We had to park a long way away at times."

"Wonderful hotel and room. Had a view over the sea. It was great to have dedicated parking. Food was nice, but rather expensive in both the main dining room and the conservatory.. would have preferred more comfort food choices in the latter. Staff friendly and helpful."

"I needed a quick break and The Cumberland met the bill (this was my first visit). Staff were courteous, helpful and friendly whilst the breakfast was amply sufficient and good quality. The room was bigger than I had expected and came equipped with a fan since we were in the middle of a heat wave and I think this top floor room was hot at the best of times.
I really like these characterful Victorian hotels with their old world charm and decor. Much more interesting in my mind than a boxy...

"I agree with some other reviews I read before we arrived about how tired the hotel was, I thought what do you expect with an old lady like the Cavendish.
The room was big, single beds as requested, a 3 seater sofa, 2 arm chairs, chair and desk, chest of drawers and wardrobe (some hotels don’t even supply that), what luxury for us.
The food was great both morning and evening, hot and appetising.
I already had a discount on the price, but other discounts were offered which made all the...
