Do not stay here, there are better all inclusives
We stayed here for 4 nights and it was very disappointing. The food was terrible. The buffet has the same food every day and it was very stale. The pizza was hard a rock, the meats were poor quality and the veggies were rotten. We couldn’t get into any restaurants ever. They don’t take reservations and anytime we walked up they were booked all night, which didn’t make much sense. The room service food was only a few items. The breakfast buffet ended at 11am and the lunch buffet starts back up at 12:30, so there are basically no food options from 11am to 12:30pm every day. My wife got sick from the food on the first night. We asked for help and the staff didn’t believe us. After the first night experience, we tried to get a refund for the remaining 3 nights as we wanted to stay somewhere else, but they denied our request. Every morning we tried to get a spot at the pools, but they were all full. You can’t reserve any seats and people wake up super early to claim spots that they don’t even use. The pool areas are 40% full of people, but 100% of the chairs are taken, everyday. They need a better system for this. The rooms were super stuffy and smelled like sewage. The only way to get rid of the small was to close the door to the bathroom and showers. The entertainment at night were very bad. We have stayed at many all inclusive all over Mexico and we look forward to the shows. These were the worst shows we’ve ever seen. The rooms were a decent size, beds not comfortable.

Great spot for a kidless vacation

Excellent visit in late January
We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very comfortable and the service was great. Food was good. Drinks too! I am never happy that by the time you get to the pool at 9am - 85% of the chairs have towels laying on them. But, that seems to be everywhere... We also visited the 2 sister properties next door. The Palace seemed to be the quietest property -even though there were some children at the property. But - it was the end of January and most kids are in school....

They put me in the basement near the service staff room. There was noise all day and all night. There is no elevator and I had to go up and down stairs all day. The food was ok, edible at best. Service is always excellent.

Not worth it…
Would not stay here again. Overall the hotel was not a match for what we were looking for which was a laid back quiet vacation. Most rooms wrap around a large main stage that each night hosts some type of music (e.g Banda, Queen Tribute, Journey, DJ) event for guests until the early hours of the morning. Then the cleaning staff starts their shift around 6:30am and they were loudly singing in the hallways that echo. The building is made of cinder block so you can hear everything. It is convenient to have food included but we got food poisoning our second to last day. Pools were nice and for the most part pretty quiet but if you’re not up by 8 or 9 you’ll have trouble finding a seat. Amazingly, they only had dos XXs and coors light. We were disappointed that in Mexico there weren’t more options for Mexican beer. They are clearly catering to a specific audience. It was nice that it was adult only. I think the general vibe of this hotel line is a little too party during spring break. Would have been fun back when we were in our 20s with a group of friends.

Great resort. Clean. Very nice rooms. The resort is like a big hotel with more concrete/ceramic than vegetation. The staff is excellent, very friendly and hard working. Service is fast. The food was excellent in the buffet but the restaurants were pretty average. As expected, it is a loud resort. There is loud music by the pool most of the day and the size of the resort makes it difficult to find a quiet place. We didn't care at first, but after a week of earing the same music all week(mostly old hit songs like Michael Jackson's), we were sick of it. The crowd is on the older side to our surprise. We were not too excited about the shows in the evening but a lot of people were watching so maybe its just us. The riuparty (4/week) were pretty amazing but you have acces in both neibouring riu resorts. If I went again, I would probably choose riu santa fe with a ocean facing room, but some people might prefer riu baja california for the better food and better room.

The property is nice. The staff is friendly and ON IT!.. I will try to be short. Staff--Fantastic from the moment you step foot on the property you get champagne and the staff is very friendly. In all areas not just the reception EVERYWHERE! Food--Buffet is FANTASTIC there are sooo many different stations that you dont know where to start. Breakfast lunch and dinner. There are I think 5 or 6 restraunts on the property we visited the Asian (good) more like an appetizer dinner which was cool cause we picked on 20 different plates. The Italian and Mexican we did not visit. The buffet was excellent POOL-- There are 4 pools the 2 smallest ones have the swim up bar .. That was the only downside to this resort is the swim up bar is wayyyyy too small .. You have 75 people in an area where there should only be 30 .. We survived. We just walked out of that pool into the big one which is only 5 ' away. DRINKS-- EXCELLENT make sure you ask for top shelf when ordereing other wise they will give you cheap stuff .Every single bartender was excellent. They make such tasty drinks All drinks are free even in your room all water and alcohol and sodas are free. I would suggest taking tip $$ you will get better drinks and service by tipping most dont but we did. ROOMS-- rooms were big and had every amenity in them .. I loved the bathtub in the room BEACH- ocean is rough and I had a broken toe so I didnt get to venture on the beach GREAT ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT ADULTS ONLY ROCKES!!!!!

This was our second time staying at Riu Baja California and we absolutely loved it! We actually kept saying how much we loved the resort all throughout our week stay. The resort is spotless, there are people cleaning all around at all times of the day. The service was wonderful, super friendly staff, our favorite server at the buffet was Aldo. We had his as our server the first time we stayed here as well and now we have become friends. Our favorite bartender by the pool was Ruth! The food was so amazing at the buffet that we didn't even try any of the restaurants but if the food was that good at the buffet I can imagine it was amazing at the restaurants as well! Last year we stayed at Riu Sante Fe which is just next door and if it wasn't for the name I would have never known it was the same company resort. We didn't have nearly as great as service and food there. I also love the fact that when you stay at Baja California you get access to the other two Riu's next door. The pool parties at Sante Fe were so fun, music was hit or miss, the day parties were better in my opinion. We definitely will keep coming back to Baja California in the future!

Very clean. However very sterile. Felt like a hospital walking to room. No decoration and no color. Dining area seating was cramped with tables close together with no privacy. Felt like a cafeteria not a comfortable setting for dinner. Pools were nice with great views. Cafe bar was also a plus. Pool side food and drink service was good.
