My husband and I had a 13 hour layover in Hong Kong from LA to Thailand. We wanted to explore the city a little bit and did not want to sleep at the airport so we found a last minute room. We were just on a flight for 16 hours and just needed to rest for a few hours. I didn’t expect much but was not expecting what we got. Was a bit tricky to find. The elevator to get up to the 16th floor had a line so long so we took the stairs which smelled so foul. Staff was nice and got us in quickly. Room was tiny and the bed was very hard. Shower is a hose in the small bathroom above the sink and right next to the toilet. Was a short walk to some fun rooftop bars. Definitely had some rough hostel experiences and this was one of them.

So many hooks to hang clothes (and other things)! Some places have absolutely no hooks. Very clean. Great staff!

The hostel locates on the south end of the Nathan Road, shopping, food, you name it. The rooms are cozy, clean, and come with amenities essential for travelers. If you want anything, just ask. The lady boss, as well as the staff, is extremely friendly and helpful. She really gives her best to accommodate emergency needs from travelers, including myself. Highly recommended.

The room not what’s describe, roaches every where, had to take stares that smells like urine everywhere. The place not suitable for travelers, local maybe. Unsafe, CCTV every corner of the area to elevator, heading to your room. A few dead bold lock before you can get to your room - just so many red flag of in safe location. Not sure if I am the first person that eventuate the hostel but not recommended for Orbitz to have on their site. Had to check out that same day and move yo a safer and clean place. We are on vacation, and if we don’t feel safe, it’s not a vacation. Requesting some refunds if so. Thanks

3rd time to the Chungking Mansion and for 2 weeks this time. I Like it for its location and price. I'm from the USA and live a very comfortable life, and travel more than 200 days a year. You have to view this as a camping trip in a 3rd world country. You will be besieged full time by the Pakistan and India sellers. They never sleep and they are in front, in the hotel and everywhere, and Imean everywhere. The smells are of a 3 world country with curry and the like. It always takes 15-30 minutes to wait on an elevator to leave your room and to go back up just to get in and out of the hotel. It is very confusing and difficult to find the first time as all the different hostels are all in the same building run by the same family. 3 days we did not have water in the morning, then our hot water heater broke. They moved us to another nicer room with a small chair in it. That made a difference. I would stay again for the price and location, but you must have the right mindset to go here. If anything it will make you appreciate how really good you have your life back home. If you are traveling in a new relationship do not go there, as it is one of the most stressfull stays you will eve have in your entire life.

When I told my Hong Kong friends where I was staying, they grimaced and said, "oh that place". So here's what I learned... This hostel is in the infamous Chungking Mansions, which is a big block building on Nathon Road, subdivided into a bunch of little hotels, hostels and backpacker dives. There's a front desk on each floor that seems to manage a dozen places. It's Hong Kong, the rooms are tiny. And the shower is in the middle of the bathroom. I would recommend staying away from the Kowloon center and Nathon Road, where you can get a bigger room for the same price.

One of the worst experiences ever of my life.
The worst thing about the stay is the neighborhood of the place. It is located in a building full of people that are trying to sell you everything. In order to get to the tiny elevator, that will take you to the register office, you need to make a long queue of about 15-20 minutes surrounded by people with food, big luggages, etc. The room itself is not bad, but the rest of the building is very old and dirty. In general, the place does not transmit a relaxed or safe environment, even if you just want to have a place to stay the night. Another fact that I did not found right was the issue that I was supposed to stayed at the Traveller´s Hostel but the room itself was located in the Singapour Hostel.

incorrect photos, place in Chungking mansions
This "hotel" is located in the Chung King Mansion off Nathan Road in Kowloon, with all the other hotels in this area. At the time I booked the double room in June 2018, the photos in the pictures showed a safe, mini-refrigerator, cups, and toiletries. My room DID NOT have any of these items, nor bottled water, none of the rooms did. The room description does not say we get these items, but the pictures showed them. When I asked the guy at reception, he tells me that those were the wrong pictures. Sounds like bait-and-switch to me. There is a free public water cooler jug, refrigerator and freezer, and microwave in the hallway for public use. The main desk is on the top 16th floor under the name Ashoka Hostel, and they run several hotels and hostels in the building. PROS: Good location, Wifi ok but can be intermittent, good AC plus a fan, hot water shower, close to MTR, plenty of restaurants, nightlife, and attractions nearby, clean rooms. CONS: Loud construction starting at 9am each morning will wake you up, very small room with no space for luggage, very hard pillows and mattress, TV does not work, no free toiletries or other items mentioned above, $100 HKD deposit. Lots of Indians, Middle Easters, and Africans will congregate in front and harass you as they try to sell you their own hotel room, watches, porn, or other crap.

Ok stay for the price. A bit shady in the front
The place was ok. Super small room but clean. The AC is a bit loud, but works pretty well since it's a small room. The bed was right up against the wall, so I barely fit. It was a bit annoying to have a bunch of people in the front asking about rooms and trying to sell you a room for the night. Seemed a bit shady, but it was whatever

Basic but clean and comfortable enough.
You pretty much know what you are getting when you stay in the Chung King Mansions. This was a small, basic room, just large enough for a bed and a toilet with shower. The bed was comfortable by Hong Kong standards, and made from foam rather than the usual rock hard mattress. Air conditioner keeps the room from getting too humid. Has a TV, but I did not use it. If you need an affordable place to sleep while in transit, or for a quick stop in HK, then it will do just fine.
