Good room, bizarre service
The room itself is quite nice - clean and updated with tasteful furniture, good bathroom. As others have mentioned the elevator is old and rickety, but adds some authenticity. Also, the front door sticks, and more so the warmer the weather to the point where it is extremely hard to push open, taking all of my weight and muscle to open it a few of my days. The couple next door had the same problem.
My real issue was with the service. My arrival was after the listed hours and so that seems to be when my trouble started. Almost to Verona after dark and I still hadn’t received the access information - I eventually got it and things seemed okay but I guess the owner was annoyed band was basically unresponsive to any communication. To top it off, on the last of my last of 3 nights I returned to find the housekeeper had cranked the heat to about 80 F (on a hot day) and didn’t replace the toilet paper, leaving me without any the following day.
The room, location and price are all good, along with Verona being a fantastic city. You’re probably unlikely to encounter most of the frustrations I had, and without them this would have been a 4 star review, but I will stay someplace else if I get to Verona again.
