Reasonable Choice
Located between Tamarindo and Villa Real, this hotel is reasonably priced and reasonably located. About a mile from the Tamarindo beachfront. Food shopping at Automercado , about a 300 meter walk, is convenient. Rooms are spare but adequate. Parking available. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing to be excited about. My room was prepaid through hotels.com but the desk clerk was unaware and tried to process another payment. He removed the charge when I showed the receipt from hotels.com on my smartphone.

Area needs a sidewalk ,as there is lots of cars using the road and parts of the sides of the roads are just ditches. Road is close to the hotel and it can get loud at times... The hotel it self is nice, clean, and staff are friendly and likeable...

4/10 Fair

A bare minimun
The hotel is either a cab ride or a half mile walk down an unlit dirt path from the beach and down town. No phone, clock radio, coffee maker, fridge, and the bathroom door latch did not latch. Traffic noise is tremendous at night, we stopped at a pharmasy and purchased ear plugs. The staff were friendly, but only one spoke any English. The beds were comfortable though, and room service kept fresh sheets and towels. Breakfast is also a bare minimun, with no fresh fruit, and very few choices. After a few days, rice and beens are tiresome.

Not a good choice
Reservations made more than 2 weeks in advance, yet when we arrived, the office door was locked and vacant. After searching the very small property for about 20 hot sweaty minutes, we found someone, definite language barrier, our small amount of Spanish and her NO English was a problem. I found my name on a clipboard and pointed to it, she gave me a room key, we went to the room to find it very dark and dreary, and HOT. The AC unit did not work, the TV did not work after several attempts. She called someone from close by to interpret for us, then moved us to another room, also dark, dreary and HOT. The AC unit finally kicked in, but room was filled with mosquitoes, and there was a spider in the shower big enough to unpack my luggage for me. Hotel right on the highway so the noise level was huge at all hours of the day and night. We stayed 2 nights and moved on, the owner/manager was in the office the next day and graciously gave us a discount for the short time we were there.

there are better options
the hotel is a 20 min walk to the beach along a pretty busy road. Grab a taxi coming back at night as the dark road is not ideal. we had monkey's waking us up at 5am which is unfortunate but understandable, but the traffic noise from the larger trucks was bad. food was basic but made on the spot. internet was spotty in the hotel room but ok in the main area.

Newly renovated hotel in shabby chic style. Rooms with windows towards the openair staircase, so curtains have to be closed all the time or everybody can watch you in the room. Location more than a kilometer from town center and beaches next to noisy main road.
